my first blu-ray

I nearly returned this, but then found the best fix: I kept my HDMI cable hooked up to my HD tuner, and just used the set of component cables (plus rca stereo) which were hooked up on the DVD play I replaced. Both the TV and Blu-ray switched over to...

Price was right, shipped quick, component output looks great on my Westinghouse 42" LCD at 1080i

Much slower to load than my DVD players, HDMI output had strange lines of missing pixels--especially highlights on skin or in bright scenes. Shiny noses seem to have the most, distracting and annoying. Tried a couple of rental disks and an hour before...

Nice Introductary Player

Other than a slow time getting started and a little sensitivity to the playback of some Blu-ray discs (very small freeze time), this is a good player for the money.

Great picture for both up-scaling DVD and Blu-ray ; Simple set-up and operation ; Good amount of status information provided

Mechanism is pretty noisy ; Slow start-up time ; Slow layer switching time
