Great Blu-ray but no Wi-Fi

Amazon Instant Video & Netflix ; Great Blu-ray images ; Digital file compatibility ; Small size

Ageing user interface ; Too many apps ; No 3D support ; No WiFi

While apps are welcome, this basic Sony deck doesn't cater for 3D Blu-ray playback and lacks WiFi. However if your router isn't near the telly, the BDP-S1200's excellent Blu-ray images and digital file playback over USB both impress.

Works with AVCHD (HD) DVDs (ordinay low-cost DVDs substituting for Blu-ray) - discs created in Sony PlayMemories Home for Sony Handycam HDR-CX330E And works with small (8cm) discs from older Hitachi camcorder.

Excellent product for a great price

Had difficulty connecting to the internet. Had to search on laptop for help. Don't rely on automatic setup for IP address etc. Set it up manually and then no problems at all. Found a really useful video on youtube which went through it step by step....

Sony BDP-S1200

Finally selling my PS3 but obviously still need a device for watching Blu Ray and DVD discs as well as Netflix so I bought this player as a replacement. It does do everything it promises. But look at the bad points.

I thought it would be a straight forward device to set up. I thought Sony were a quality company. The player as shipped was non functional - I couldn't get a picture to appear on the screen. After several retries I eventually got it to work and...
