Canon Elura 10, GL1

The Canon Elura 10 ($1,150 street) is an upright camera smaller than a dinner roll. Canon achieved the compact size by placing functions like the S-Video–out, microphone, and headphone jacks on a small docking unit, retaining IEEE 1394, composite...

Review: Canon GL1 Camcorder

Canon introduces the newest addition to its family of Mini DV camcorders, the GL1. A smaller, more compact version of the XL1; there's no missing the family resemblance

In addition to a small speaker, Canon has provided a headphone jack to monitor audio. Other jacks include FireWire, S-video, A/V in and out and LANC edit control

Canon GL-1 DV Camcorder

Canon, more than any other manufacturer of still and video cameras, has listened carefully to the market, and they've heard what professionals want and need. Considering the time lapse between estimating what we want, and being able to deliver it to us...

In the meantime, for those professional photojournalists who wanted to add digital video to their toolbox, the big problem has been the sheer size of the instrument. As wonderful as the XL-1 is, it's still tough to imagine a photojournalist carrying...

Vivid color and sturdy housing.

Not as sharp as VX2000 or Canon GL2

The magic is in the "3CCD"'s

I spent several months looking for the perfect camera in the "prosumer" market. I found the GL1, even after several years on the market, is still the best value for your money. With a $250 rebate from Canon right now, it is well worth the extra money...

Image quality and color, flip out LCD screen, solid build, Canon reputation.

Audio not optimized for voices, less than precise battery life indicator.
