Panasonic HDC-HS200

The Panasonic HDC-HS200 high definition camcorder can capture great-looking footage, and it's good value too.

So the Panasonic HDC-HS200 is capable of impressive image quality, and if you want the best picture, but probably won't use the manual features of the HDC-HS300 and TM300, it's a great-value compromise. If £700 is still pricey, Panasonic also makes a...

Panasonic HDC-HS200 review

Panasonic's HDC-HS200 is a powerful little package

Excellent pictures ; Generous features

Costly ; Could be more intuitive to operate

Despite its foibles, this is a brilliant camcorder that's well worth your money

Panasonic HDC-HS200

The Panasonic HDC-HS200 is a Full-HD (1080p) camcorder with 80GB hard drive and SD card storage. Triple 3MP CMOS sensors allow for 10MP (interpolated) still photos, while a 12x zoom Leica lens, 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD with 1.6 lux low light recording...

Do you stroke your goateed chin while watching Austrian documentaries? Do you listen to opera with the lights off? Then this camcorder is for you – it’s all about the better things in life. Even the fact that it’s heavier and more expensive than its...

Panasonic HDC-HS200-K camcorder

Full HD Panasonic camcorder with 80GB hard drive and advanced 3MOS sensor

Superb 1080p image quality, 10.6-megapixel stills mode, huge array of modes and features

No external audio, too expensive, manual modes are let down by user interface

When judged on video quality alone, the Panasonic HDC-HS200-K is an excellent camcorder that can match almost anything on the market. Unfortunately, its high price tag coupled with certain hardware omissions has slightly diminished its appeal....

Panasonic HDC-HS200

At AU$2,299, the HS200 sits at the top of Panasonic's new camcorder range. With a 3MOS sensor and 80GB hard drive, we think it might just make up for the company's previous HD offerings.

Panasonic HDC-HS200

Very simple to use, both in picture and video mode. Great Features for example taking a snap shot from a video, fold back screen so you can face the camera and Shoot / Film, On screen menus are quick and easy to use, all round a very nice package and...

Panasonic may wish to consider including a small case with these high end models in future as was difficult to find a belt mounted case to use when walking around.

Panasonic HDC-HS200

This is a top quality camcorder, providing excellent high definition video and stills. It's light weight means that prolonged filming is not too onorous on the arm. It has a relatively simple touch screen control but if you are like me and find new...

Panasonic supply various cables with the kit but for straight forward HD viewing on TV they failed to supply the most important mini HDMI cable which is bought separately. You can purchase a really good one for under a tenner but it would have been...

Panasonic HDC-HS200

Easy to use, good picture, ai which means you can just point and shoot with no thinking saying that I am sure that there is plenty of manual features for those who know what they are doing and what control

Battery life around two hours of use

Panasonic HDC-HS200

The Panasonic Auto functions work well In good light the image is stunning No hard drive noise at all Very good build quality

The battery life is way short - an hour of filming. Genuine spares are too expensive. Don't expect the image quality to be maintained under low indoor lighting (like filming my new baby in the evening) - Its still ok, but you won't be blown away. And,...

Product Specifications

The HS200 is a hybrid model that records Full HD images either on an SD (or SDHC) memory card or the built-in 80GB hard disk drive. A 32-GB SDHC memory card can hold around 12 hours of recorded video clips (in HE mode). The HS200 can copy recorded video images from the SD memory card to the hard disk, or vice versa, with easy operation. The HS200 features the Full HD 3MOS sensor, developed by Panasonic based on its proven 3CCD technology. Panasonic's 3MOS system captures more vibrant, true-to-life colors, greater detail and richer gradation. The iA function automatically activates several convenient shooting functions. These include advanced O.I.S., which compensates for hand-shake to eliminate blurring; face detection, which adjusts the exposure so faces are captured perfectly; and intelligent contrast control, which helps ensure proper contrast. Also included is the intelligent scene selector, which determines the shooting conditions and automatically selects the scene setting that will provide optimal results. The HS200 records on both SD and SDHC memory cards. Because SD memory cards require no transport mechanism, the HS200 is highly resistant to external impact. This combines with its small size and weight to achieve unmatched mobility.
