SimplyDV Review: Panasonic NV-GS200EB DV Camcorder

Great 3CCD image quality, good physical handling, excellent range of functions. 20x digital zoom better than expected, top-loading of tapes.

500x digital zoom is useless, letterbox widescreen not outstanding.

At its price, the GS200 is an excellent 3CCD camcorder (as is the GS120) Picture quality is fantastic, and top-loading is the icing on the cake. This deserves a full rating!

Panasonic NV-GS200

One of the two most compact three-chip MiniDV cameras on the market.

Extremely compact for a three-CCD model ; Top-notch colour reproduction ; Solid manual controls ; Broad feature set

Poor low-light performance ; Mediocre stills ; Suboptimal image stabilisation

Editor's note: The Panasonic NV-GS200 is known as the Panasonic PV-GS200 in the US. .

After only 5 videos had component failure - unfortunately out of warranty as I have not used it much - found some cameras on the market that take top quality photos and excellent videos. Will go for one of these. Won't buy this brand again.
