Panasonic NVGS250B review

This Panny is a weighty 570g but makes up for it with a 3CCD sensor system and optical image stabiliser for wobbly arms

SimplyDV Review: Panasonic NV-GS250 DV Camcorder

Lovely 3CCD images, nice body styling, handles very well, large knurled focus ring, great features, top loading tape transport

Menu navigation can be awkward until joystick is mastered, menu design is a bit clunky and could be better designed

Could be seen as the ideal starter camcorder for complete newbies and also users upgrading from older analogue or digital models

If you want a great lens, vibrant colours and the ability to simply and easily send your video out to the Web--and don't need a large optical zoom--the Panasonic NV-GS250 should be near the top of your list.

Superb colour quality, true 3.1 megapixel digital still images, optical image stabiliser

Only 10X optical zoom

Panasonic PV-GS250

The Panasonic PV-GS250 performs adequately, but not quite well enough to justify its large size and price tag.

Very good color. Easy to use. Nice extras, like a manual focus ring.

Big and bulky. Expensive.

Panasonic PV-GS250

Camcorder offers strong image quality, with numerous manual controls that should appeal to picky consumers.

The PV-GS250 takes good-looking video and offers manual controls that give users plenty of flexibility in shooting.

Image quality

Panasonic PV-GS250

Great three-chip color; strong ergonomics and navigation system; solid optical image stabilizer; decent stills.

Only average in low light; difficult to control manually; limited zoom range; mediocre LCD.

A bargain for a three-chip camera, the Panasonic PV-GS250 is a great choice for an amateur with serious aspirations or just a discerning eye.

Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS50

Compact and lightweight; sharp, colorful video; healthy battery life; manual exposure controls.

Limited low-light modes; loss of focus when zooming in; low-resolution viewfinder.

A very good ultracompact MiniDV camera, this model is easy on the wallet, too.

Panasonic NV-GS250

Panasonic's GS-250 is a great little camcorder, but its bundled software package doesn't do its general ease of use any real favours.

Quality lens ; Image stabilisation works well ; Good low-light shooting ; Strong microphone pickup

USB 2.0 only supplied cable ; Software manual in PDF format only
