Image quality

Panasonic D-Snap SV-AV100

Extremely compact; records MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video; 10X optical zoom; sharp 2.5-inch LCD.

Included 512MB SD card stores only 10 minutes of highest-quality footage; using the tilted cursor pad is awkward; electronic jitter in many video shots.

The SV-AV100 shoots better MPEG-2 movies than most cameras this small, but overall video quality and storage limitations disappoint.

Panasonic SV-AV100 D-Snap

The Panasonic SV-AV100 D-Snap digital video camcorder fits in the palm of your hand and produces surprisingly good images.

Given the camera's limited storage capabilities, we sought to discover the minimum quality settings that would still produce usable images. In SuperFine MPEG-4 mode (320-by-240, 1 Mbps), the highest quality MPEG-4 compression setting, blocks and other...

Panasonic D-Snap SV-AV100

I've owned one of these for the past several years, and it's my primary camera for shooting live footage. Since the "art is in the editing", for capturing non-compressed, DVD-quality content, this unit can't be beat.

Still the only unit for shooting mpeg2 with such a small form factor. With 2 GB SD cards now available, storage is no longer an issue. Incredible size to feature ratio

Battery life ; Poor performer in low light conditions ; Still camera quality mediocre by today's standards

This camcorder is so cool because you can see what it is recording with out being behind it the entire time.

never fails me

Having a super small video camera that records in stereo is nice. Having one that also lets you edit in-camera is even better, but having one that doesn't fail when you need it most is priceless. I have taken this little wonder around the world and it...

SD card storage. no moving parts. quiet operation. very dependable.no internal cleaning

Only 44 minutes per card. does not video well in low light
