Can I ever trust Sony again?

After my last Sony Handycam caught on fire, yeah...I said FIRE, I picked up this gem. I needed something to at least last long enough to help me transfer/edit my 8mm tapes to DVD. Just before the 3 year anniversary of the purchase the thing went nuts. ...

It was less expensive than my first Sony.

Broke after 3 years of modest use.

Director's Cut Take 2

Most of what follows is from my review of the Sony CCD-TRV67, the first camcorder I owned. I bought the step-up model CCD-TRV87 after just over a year of using the 67. I have altered my review where necessary to explain ...

Beautiful Hi8 picture quality, loads of neat features

Onboard mike leaves something to be desired, manual focusing is tough, no accessory shoe.

The last of the decent Sony pure analog camcorders

This camcorder was introduced in 1999, which was in essence the "high water" mark year of the Sony analog camcorder line. Digital -- which had been introduced by Sony two years earlier -- took over the "top of the line" position the following year,...

Analog video that rivals digital, crammed with every advanced feature Sony ever put into Hi8

Not trendy "teeny-weeny" size ; since out of production is getting somewhat harder to find

WORST PIECE OF WORK EVER BY SONY

THIS HANDYCAM WAS BOUGHT BY ME AND MY TWO FRIENDS HAVING AN OPINION THAT SONY PRODUCTS ESPECIALLY HA ...

GOOD LOOKING WITH PLENTY OF FEATURES. SUITABLE BOTH FOR AN AMETUER AND A PROFESSIONAL.

POSING LOTS OF HARDWARE PROBLEMS SINCE ITS PURCHASE.

Great Camera!

I use this camera for digital video. Although its not a digital video camera, Hi8 works fine for me. I use a video to firewire converter connected to my Mac, and I am able to import video very easily. I can also export my completed video to the camera,...

Easy to hook up to other devices. Great for personal/semi professional use.

Pricey, since its a Sony. Some features won't get used. Viewscreen could be larger.

Advice on my Sony Camcorder

Camcorders have always been viewed in my family as an extravagant toy. Something that is not essential to everyday life.

Good picture quality, price, weight, looks

Small buttons, B&W viewfinder, No screen

Sony Video Hi8 XR or Camcorder

My husband wanted a camcorder for Christmas and since I was buying it and knew absolutely nothing about the cameras, I went to Best Buy where the sales personnel are very knowledgeable. They had a wide selection that you could pick up move around and...

Easy to handle and record. Quality stereo sound.

Awkward to hook up to TV. Too many features that go unused. Not for beginners.

Unbeatable Analog Camcorder!

After researching tons of camcorder websites, talking to tourists, and playing with all the models at Circuit City, I found this camera to be the perfect fit for me. I wanted something with a small form factor, very durable, excellent video, and sound...

Durable, easy learning curve, AWESOME picture quality, clear and crisp sound, ergonomic button placement.

Comes with a cheap battery, Included shoulder strap is pathetic, the on/off/VCR button is annoying.

Just a great camera.

The only thing that I personally didn't like is the frail feel of the camera. Always feel like I have to be extra careful with it. Everything else is fantastic. There's a S-Video out for high quality transfer. Or you can watch and listen to your tape...

Easy to use, great picture and sound, nice features.

Feels frail.

the best (non-digital) camcorder I could find !

This was the best camcorder I could find for the money in May 2000. This camcorder is well worth the price, and is easy to use, but with so many features, even an advanced user will appreciate it. I am glad to see that SONY models are coming down into...

very high quality video and audio, lightweight, lots of features

not digital, but otherwise very very high quality picture and sound
