Sony Handycam DCR-DVD305 review: Sony Handycam DCR-DVD305

Sony Handycam DCR-DVD305

Generally fast autofocus and autoexposure; can finalize discs while on battery power.

Middling video quality; no windscreen filter for microphone; small LCD with impractical touch screen-based menu system.

There are better choices than the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD305, a so-so DVD camcorder.

Sony DCR-DVD305 Camcorder Review

They say the apple never drops far from the tree - and in the case of the Sony DCR-DVD305, the saying is particularly apt. This camcorder shares a body design with its step-down cousin, the DCR-DVD205, and its specs are virtually identical. In fact,...

The DCR-DVD305 ($700 MSRP) is the middle of the line DVD camcorder from Sony. That position might suffice in MiniDV camcorders, but DVD camcorders produce (for the time being) a lower image quality than MiniDV. Whereas a mid-line Sony or Canon MiniDV...

Sony DCR-DVD305

The Sony DCR-DVD305 comes a'calling with a 1/5.5" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD, with 1.3 gross MP (690K effective pixels). This is the same size chip as the DCR-DVD205, the next model down, but that camcorder does not have the HAD...

Ups and Downs of Sony DCR-DVD305

I like this product alot. In fact, I think it is a great deal for the price of it. If you are undecided in getting a cheaper or less featured version of the 305 it is NOT worth it. Spend the extra $100 and you will be getting a much better deal. ...

Capturing Memories to mini-DVD

It's been a LONG time since I bought a video camera. The last one I had was a JVC VHS-C camcorder that weighed over 4 lbs and had a pitiful battery life around 35 min per battery. It was also the size of a small toaster. I walked into Circuit City ...

Very Portable, excellent recording ability/video quality, auto-creates Title menus
