Sony Handycam DCR-PC350

Its compact size and great stills and videos make the PC350 a top choice for a double-duty camcorder.

Great video and still-photo quality ; Solid night imaging

On the verge of being too small ; Viewfinder doesn't tilt ; Uses Memory Stick Duo

Darkness also trumps quality unless you're overly fond of grainy, green footage when using NightShot or Super NightShot modes, though it shoots in conditions that would totally stump other camcorders.

Expert Review

Sony's DCR-PC350 is the company's most expensive matchbook camcorder from 2004. It's a good camcorder, especially for a matchbook, and it definitely beats the socks off of Canon's high end Optura 400 and Optura 500. While the Opturas may take the cake...

Cineframe 24 mode (as a nice gimmick, nothing more), - Low light and video performance, - 16:9 mode, - mic input, ports, - Spot focus/metering

Optical zoom / digital zooms are low, - No true shutte speed, - Handling is mediocre with touch screen
