Sony DCR-SR47

Standard-def Sony handycam with 60GB hard drive and a 60x optical zoom.

60GB of inbuilt storage, powerful 60x optical zoom, affordable price

Poor still image mode, noisy low-light performance

The Sony DCR-SR47 is a great standard-definition camcorder that will satisfy most casual users. With oodles of inbuilt storage and a user-friendly 60x optical zoom, it represents great value for money.

Sony Handycam DCR-SR47 review: Sony Handycam DCR-SR47

Sony Handycam DCR-SR47

Simple operation; 60x zoom lens; 60GB hard drive; small.

Soft video; noticeable purple fringing on subjects.

If storage amount, zoom range, and easy operation are on your list of needs before video quality, check out the Sony Handycam DCR-SR47.

Sony Handycam DCR-SR47

If high storage capacity, long zoom range and easy operation are above video quality on your list of needs, the Sony Handycam DCR-SR47 is well worth a look.

Simple operation ; 60x zoom lens ; 60GB hard drive ; Itty bitty dimensions

Soft video ; Noticeable purple fringing

While it's true that you can get much better video from an HD camcorder, and they needn't cost that much more, standard-definition video is less demanding to play and edit on an average desktop or laptop. With the Sony Handycam DCR-SR47, you're trading...

DCR-SR47: Great Amateur Video Camcorder

The Sony Handycam DCR-SR47 is great for amateur videographers and YouTube users. While the clips are noisy on high definition screens, it works well on the smaller Internet screen. Professionals should avoid this camcorder. Learn more by reading this...

While as mentioned the video recording comes out fine on the YouTube format, its lower-quality shows when trying to take higher-quality recording. It’s noisy in low-light and not as crisp as higher-priced camcorders. But, for the amateur videographer,...

Lots of zoom but blurry picture with lots of noise when indoors or at night. The colours looked a little washed out as well. I swoped it for another brand.

Nice camcorder, working great since 2009

We have had this since 2009. These days it does not get a lot of use given our cell phones are just more handy. The internal 60gb drive is adequate sized. transfering videos is easy enough.

The door hinge feels a bit lightweight
