Sony DCR-TRV510 Camcorder Review - Sony Digital8 Camcorders

The DCR-TRV510 is a Digital8 camcorder with a MSRP of $1299. Sony Digital8 records a digital signal onto standard 8mm or Hi8 tapes. Sony claims it is possible to record up to 500 lines of resolution on a Digital8 tape. The compression allows you to...

Perfect camera!

I purchased this camera (used, but like new) three years ago on ebay for 500 bucks, what a deal!!! I make 'how-to' videos. This is one of the few cameras that will convert analog to digital 'on-board' by connecting the a/v cables (those things with ...

Great Quality Digital 8 Camcorder

This camcorder was purchased at near $1000 when they first came out. I bought it to replace an older Sony 8mm Handycam and still be able to use the old 8mm video and even move to digital.

Large Color Monitor, edits older 8mm tapes, firewire editing, still photos on memory or tape

Need to read manual to use all functions, no memory stick or mpeg

just right

I bought the Sony DCR TRV510 camcorder for several reasons. I continue enjoying it for most of these reasons. The large swivel screen is marvelous - and so is the color view-finder for the weak-batteried folks. I upgraded to an NP950 battery ($140)...

small, versatile, great video and audio, terrific swivel display

poor photo quality/software, badly designed lens cap

Sony TRV510 Dig8 Camcorder -- Get Me the Biggest LCD Screen!

Sony has taken an interesting, unusual, and innovative approach to offering digital camcorders to compete in the consumer-level price range. In 1998, the Japanese consumer electronics giant brought out its line of Digital8 camcorders. These camcorders...

Sony DCR - TRV510

The Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV510 is the most useful product that a video person can have. It has two modes of operation that I found to be very useful.

TRV510, Digital Videos and Photos

The TRV510 is a great camcorder and goes great with Sony's R553DS PC computer and the Epson 870 (see my reviews). I purchased all three, and they work together flawlessly to view and transfer your new Digital 8 tapes, as well as your old analog 8mm...

Not Macintosh Friendly

This camcorder has all the features you'd ever need EXCEPT Macintosh compatibility. I purchased this camera to edit digital movies, and with Apples free program iMovie and a IEEE 1394 (not supplied with the camera), I had not problem downloading...

Great features, including excellent video quality

No Macintosh still picture support

My fantastic camcorder!

Note: This opinion has been relocated to it's proper category from elsewhere on Epinions. This category wasn't around when I created the opinion originally!

All the features you could possibly want. You can still view your old 8mm tapes.

Can't think of any.
