Camcorder Review: Sony DSR-PD150 DVCAM

As camcorder prices continue to drop, professional format cameras have come into the grasp of consumers. The Sony DSR-PD150 is one of them. Styled after the legendary Sony VX-1000, its thoughtful additions make it a reasonable choice for the video...

XLR audio inputs ; Great picture ; Rugged construction

XLR module awkward placement ; Auto iris button placement ; Fixed lens

We shot footage with this camcorder in a variety of situations. We shot a studio model with controlled lighting, in bright midday light on a golf course, at 10,000 feet in a national park, in deep woods with fall colors and snowmobiles in action....

great camera

When used in memory card mode to take stills it produces great clear quality.

Sound can be a bit of a problem, not as good as expected

A Proven Camera - by the BBC and several feature films

Great low-light sensitivity, reliable workhorse, both DVCAM and dv format, seamless compatibility

Non-interchangeable lens requires adapter for wide-angle, very early first models had hiss problems.

Best camera in its price range!

This is a very good camera without doubt. The image quality is very good in almost every kind of light. In dark rooms(6-18 db) you get a nice warm picture, and in daylight faces are almost always correct. In contrary to VX1000 were you got yellows...
