Altec Lansing GT5051 review: Altec Lansing GT5051

Altec Lansing GT5051

Space-saving design.

Mediocre sound quality; no digital audio inputs; less than ergonomic hardware controls; expensive.

Altec Lansing's GT5051 delivers discrete 5.1-channel surround sound with just two satellites speakers, a center speaker, and a subwoofer, but you sacrifice performance for the sake of compact design.

Nice

if u dont want 5 speakers to place with wires everywhere these are a nice alternative... just dont expect an amazing sound... but these are very good

The side firing tech is nice considering you get the simplicity of 3.1... sorta convincing... best to think of it as sound expanding then surround sound

The first 6 months I had these they were used off my realtek mobo 6.1 audio... the sound was quite muddy...i upgraded to an xfi card and was somewhat worried that the muddy sound would still be there but no. So these speakers do have potential... sound...

ALTEC LANSING GT5051 80 Watts RMS 5.1 Speaker

Paired those speakers with a SB Audigy 2 ZS and I am very happy with them. Make sure you balance them right after the setup. I had to boost up the center speaker quit a bit afterward.

Very crisp and very clear sound ; Saves some room, and less cables running around

Maybe the sub is a little too discret ; I am not 100% sold out by the Side Firing Dipole Surround Technology, but the result is not too bad I guess, since the rear speakers are in front of you

lack of bass

clean and clear sound ; compact ; high quality

too small of a subwoofer ; no remote ; side firing needs some improvement(yes they're placed right)

Nice

Very Great and Fast Service from New Egg as usual.

Very Nice System. I have a triangle shape PC table in corner of my room and this system works like a charm., eflecting sound from walls as rear speakers. Sound quality is awesome with very High pitch

None really. Only not 100% replacement of 5.1 surround system but still good

Great Speakers

I didn't even notice the headphone jack on one of the main speaker units for months owning it.

When my Creatives died (the wires that lead up to the volume control module died, bending them around a bit did help, but that didn't last, and ghetto stuff doesn't belong an a high end rig) I went on a search for speakers that didn't span my whole...

The front speaker is a bit big

ALTEC LANSING GT5051 80 Watts RMS 5.1 Speaker

I have an Audigy2 ZS sound card and with a little tweaking they don't sound bad just not as good.I'm gonna try Cyber Acoustics next wish me luck. Newegg service always impressive

Because they come with 3 speakers instead of 5 they don't take up much room

They're not as good as my 5 year old Altec Lansing 2.1.I gave my old ones to my daughter...ouch.They're are certainly not as crisp as the old Altecs nor is the bass as deep
