Service and support

Acer Aspire 2000

Wide-screen display; attractive design; excellent performance and battery life; Arcade software plays media without booting Windows.

Uncomfortable keyboard placement and layout; stiff touchpad buttons; no remote for Arcade software.

The Aspire 2000 is a fast, stylish, long-lasting notebook with great multimedia features but some minor ergonomic flaws. If you don't mind that, it's one of the better desktop replacements.

Great system, but needs a cleaning

I'm pretty hesitant when it comes to small PCs. Not a fan of leaving them on for more than 30 hors, which is almost a weekly requirement since I use VPN for maintenance 100 miles away in some cases. These little guys have stood the test and come out...

I work as the Net Admin and IT Support for several medical offices and I have to say that these are great little machines. Their nice and small, perfect replacements for all our old Dells. Gigabit LAN is a definite plus, since the first one I bought...

Very quiet for the most part, but the drive goes nuts when you read a disk. Really loud, but not much of an issue in my eyes, since folks at the office rarely use it ; The one thing I really have to take issue with is all the software. Grab some coffee...

Not for the average user

If you are a system administrator and simly want to add a computer to a client's network this is a good deal. For everyone else, skip it.

Easy set up if this is the only computer you own

No CD of any kind included ; No back up aside from the included one-off software option ; Difficult to remove junk included software ; Difficult to connect to your LAN and ESPECIALLY difficult to connect to the Internet via a router ; No way to upgrade...

It's only a okay computer

B/c of its size, home entertainment is good, but not too impressive to me for office use.

Yes, this is a really small & a quiet computer. Backup image can be burn on DVD/CD in case of problem & need re-setup

Although it's a duo core, it is slow. Bought a refr'd P4-D925 Compaq, and set-up side by side for a client. Compaq w/ only 512MB DDR finished within 3 mins apart with this. Should have provided a backup DVD/CD's instead of making me to burn them(very...

Good Small System

If you purchase this system, and you plan to upgrade the RAM, make sure you buy SO-DIMMs for the system. I made that mistake, since it is not listed anywhere in the specs of the system.

Reasonably priced system. Very small and compact. Works OK out of the box

RAM. This system needs to be upgraded to at least 1GB RAM

Blame Windows, not Acer

Try installing Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mepis or Mint. They all work great and so much faster. Mepis is my personal favorite.

This is a good system. Don't blame Acer, blame Microsoft

512MB is not enough for Vista. Buy this system and wipe the drive. Install Linux and it will work fine

Acer Power AP2000-UP651C Pentium 4 651(3.4GHz) 512MB DDR2 80GB Intel GMA 3000 Windows Vista Business

bought to upgrade a clients home office. Thanks to Newegg email, got a great deal on it and used what I saved to upgrade memory to 2GB. System has been running continuously for a week without any problems. Very quiet and relatively cool. I will be...

not a bad pc

I should get another hard drive

I wiped Windows from the HD, then dualbooted Knoppix and XUbuntu. The specs are more than sufficient to run a Linux distro smoothly

Comes with Windows and only 512MB of RAM

I agree

This PC along with all the other bargin computers are trying to run Windows Vista with 512mb. Expect to buy more ram to put in this. It's pretty annoying that companies with try and shaft customers like that.
