The Acer Predator AG3-605-UR39 is a midrange gaming desktop PC that will perform well on the game grid. But its limited internal expansion options mean it's strictly for the plug-and-play crowd.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 graphics. Lots of I/O ports. Front-accessible hard drive expansion bay.

Acer Predator G review: A budget-priced gaming rig with some real teeth

Unlike many off-the-shelf PCs aimed at gamers, the 2014 Predator is no wannabe.

Strong price-to-performance ratio ; Blu-ray drive ; Attractive, unassuming enclosure

No SSD ; Just adequate power supply ; Only one PCIe slot (occupied)

You'll find plenty of more powerful gaming PCs on the market, but few that are this competitively priced for the components delivered.

Runs modern games excellently (don't forget to play with older games "compatibility mode", it should still work form them). Silent running, even when used intensively. Gorgeous case.

Windows 8 can get a while getting used to (free download online to "downgrade" to 7 and third party tools to make it behave like 7 are available though). It can be slow on start up for no reason (again, more of an OS issue than a PC issue. Keyboard is...
