eMachines ET1831-07 review: eMachines ET1831-07

eMachines ET1831-07

Strong features for a low price; on certain tests, outperforms desktops that cost $125 more; room to expand inside; power-efficient.

Gaudy green-lit plastic strip on the front of the case; poor video playback performance.

The eMachines ET1831-07 isn't much of a video playback device, but in all other respects, this is a solid budget PC. Perhaps the best deal going for its features, it also outperforms other desktops in and above its price range on general computing...

eMachines ET1831-07

It's common knowledge that the lower the cost of a desktop system, the more likely it will be a machine that cuts corners to achieve that price. You don't often find a system that performs as admirably as its price is low. The eMachines ET1831-07, a...

Strong price-to-performance ratio ; Lots of storage space

Lacks gigabit ethernet networking ; Cluttered internal wiring

Offering capable performance and a stellar price tag, the eMachines ET1831-07 may not top the charts, but it's a great value.

Great product for the price and really easy to install everything you need.

Comes bundled with 32 and 64 bit versions of Internet Explorer - the 64 bit version can cause some Compatability Issues with some sites but I just stick to using the 32 bit version.

QUIET, easy use, simple set-up, efficient machine (equivalent in the past to a machine around 3 times the price - as was my previous Desktop PC). Good upgrade possibilities for the future. Sleek black tower, very nice visually, and performs well.

A version of the many incarnations of the e-machines ET1831, so precise technical details for upgrade purposes not so easily available.

Looked pretty

Kept locking up & freezing After a few minutes of use. This may be a cheap computer but expected it to at least work. Returned for a refund

The person it was bought for has very little computer experience so we wanted something easy to use and was quite basic but reliable. It was one of the cheapest desk top computers we could find with a trusted vendor. It so far is doing what we bought...

Windows 7 has had some compatibility problems, so far it's not an issue but I'm sure there will be more hills to climb.

It was not part of a package so I didn't have to take a monitor etc. The multiple card reader is very useful. The memory and ram are very powerful. Excellent value for money.

I didn't need the keyboard and mouse so would have maybe paid less.
