Advent DT1308 review

Advent's DT1308 is a fairly powerful no-frills PC base unit, available for £400 from PC World. Like many Advent PCs, it's built the opposite way round to most computers, with the case opening on the right-hand side as you face the front panel. Inside,...

Advent DT1308 review

In the cut-throat world of the sub-£500 PC, a fierce commitment to the latest components is needed if a machine is to propel itself out of the pack. The Advent DT1308, however, finds itself struggling to keep up with its fastest rivals.

The Advent DT1308 lags just a little behind the performance of the fastest machines at this price. And with no areas where it stands out, there’s less to recommend this PC over competing systems in the sub-£500 category.

The arrival of a battered box is not always bad news, the arrival of a box with space in it probably is. This unit had been doing the rounds and when it got to me all I got was the system box, not even a power lead or any instructions.

I am extremely pleased that most units do not arrive in this condition, however I can say whoever gets it next gets a fully updated and running correctly item, however the badly placed USB ports and other items crowded together are why I have given it...

Very easy to set-up, did it in 15 minutes Great value, excellent processor for the price Great onboard HD graphics Good family computer, will work for most things straight out of the box

Cables inside the case are a bit of a mess wiring in the case makes it difficult to install a second hard drive/SSD relatively small amount of RAM is evident when doing high performance tasks

Quite, lots of memory, fast processor, good for gaming, quick and easy to set up, two usb3 ports, integrated card reader

No outlook express have to use windows live, will only read photos on memory stick once.

Great machine, very powerful and very easy to set up. Also very quiet - the whole reason I had to get rid of my old one was the terrible noise.

Nice design. Quiet. Powerful chip and good speed for the price.

The latest Microsoft "helpful" prompts are annoying, but that's Microsoft not Advent.

Seems to work well with few problems setting up.

Perhaps the software bundle could be better also no indication that you can install one of another two security bundles rather than Norton. Delivery was a disaster but that was nothing to do with you.

i5 core is great processor. However could have done with a better graphics card rather than the intels own, which reduces its overall rating.

the external case did not fit properly. Extremely poor workmanship, for a brand new product.
