Apple iMac 21.5-inch (2019) review

Apple's most affordable all-in-one (until you fix the compromises)

Superb 4K display with wide color gamut ; Reasonable selection of high-spec ports

RAM not user-upgradeable ; Underwhelming storage options ; Weak graphics processor for 3D

The iMac that should be for everyone isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. There’s one surprisingly capable component, but more than is desirable for which you’ll run up the cost to get an iMac that’s a truly good investment.

Apple 21.5-inch iMac (2019) review: Slick, elegant and powerful but showing its age

The refreshed 21.5-inch iMac is a beast of an all-in-one – just make sure you buy one with an SSD

Still attractive ; Fast CPU and graphics ; Magnificent 4K Retina display

Base model comes with a regular HDD ; Big fat bezels

If you really want an iMac, though – and I completely understand if you do – it’s not a terrible choice at all. It’s fast enough to take care of any task you care to throw at it and attractive enough to grace any environment, from a five-star hotel...

iMac 21.5in (2019) Review: Wired Inside, Tired Outside

Apple iMac 21.5-Inch (2019)

The 2019 reboot of Apple's iMac 21.5-inch is worth a look if you need a small-screen all-in-one desktop. On the whole, though, its 27-inch sibling is more versatile and a better performance value.

Gorgeous Retina display. Time-tested, stylish exterior and high attention to detail. macOS Mojave packs lots of useful basic functionality.

Expensive as configured. Relatively slow Fusion Drive in test model. Thick screen borders, relative to panel size. No dedicated HDMI or DisplayPort video output.

Bottom Line: The 2019 reboot of Apple's iMac 21.5-inch is worth a look if you need a small-screen all-in-one desktop. On the whole, though, its 27-inch sibling is more versatile and a better performance value.

21.5-inch 3.0GHz 6-core Core i5 iMac (2019) review: New all-in-one stands out in multi-core performance

Apple's first 6-core 21.5-inch iMac makes a compelling case as an affordable pro-level machine.

Excellent multi-core performance ; Elegant all-in-one design

Unimpressive single-core performance improvement over comparable 2017 model ; RAM is not user upgradeable
