AppleiMac(17 inch monitor)

Every new iMac features an iPod Shuffle-style remote control, which magnetically clings to the side of the iMac and, with Front Row, you can control iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and the DVD player from up to 30 feet away

You'll get iLife 06, Photobooth, iChat, iCal and Address Book into the bargain. Very lounge friendly. Features a handy iPod Shuffle-style remote.

Microsoft Office 30 day trial is a tease. Could have included more digital hubs. Photoshop runs slower than on the G5iMac.

Apple G5 review

Apple iMac G5 (2.1GHz, 20-inch)

Built-in iSight camera for videoconferencing and photos; remote control and Front Row software let you enjoy media from across the room; faster and cheaper than past models.

TV missing from Front Row media application; can't adjust the height of the screen; expandability limited to adding RAM; only 90 days of phone support.

The Apple iMac G5 gets trimmer and cheaper as it ups its performance and adds a handful of multimedia features, resulting in an all-around first-rate home PC.

Apple iMac G5 (20-inch)

Slim and compact design, included Mighty Mouse, in-built iSight camera, ease-of-setup, bright and responsive display, remote control, built-in Bluetooth

Limited internal expansion, some issues with Front Row software

An excellent computer for either home or business use, unless you require excessive performance or add-ons, the iMac is a highly recommended and capable machine.

Apple iMac 5th Generation review: Apple iMac 5th Generation

Apple iMac 5th Generation

Industry-leading design; best all-in-one overall for its price; strong digital media performance; broad range of connectivity options; easy-to-use operating system.

Smaller screen than some newer all-in-ones; puny hard drive for its price; disproportionately expensive memory upgrades; lame 90-day phone support.

Apple's smaller-scale iMac remains our favorite all-in-one. And while its looks, its ease of use, and its performance are all selling points, Windows PCs are starting to catch up (at least with the latter). A few components could also stand an update,...

Apple iMac Desktop

Apple's 20-inch iMac with a 2-GHz Intel Core Duo processor looks identical to the 2.1-GHz iMac G5 that we reviewed in January 2006. The primary difference is that--while Apple's own applications run faster on the new machine--current third-party...

Unique all-in-one with good performance

Very limited upgradeability

Because of the Intel-based iMac's performance handicap with nonoptimized software, I rate this shipping iMac a point below its non-Intel predecessor. Though the move to the Intel platform speeds up natively written programs and opens the door to the...

Apple iMac G5 (2.1GHz, 20-inch)

Apple's newest iMac G5 adds intuitive new media-management software and a fun, video-chat-enabling integrated camera to make for the most full-featured iMac G5 to date. Even better, it costs $100 less than the older version.

Built-in iSight camera for videoconferencing and photos; remote control and Front Row software let you enjoy media from across the room; faster and cheaper than past models.

TV missing from Front Row media application; can't adjust the height of the screen; expandability limited to adding RAM; only 90 days of phone support.

Apple iMac G5 (iSight)

The iMac G5 is a great desktop for Mac multimedia hobbyists whose needs go beyond simple Web browsing and e-mailing.

New built-in iSight camera. Added multimedia capabilities. SuperDrive (dual-layer DVD writer) and wireless (802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR) now standard across iMac line. New DDR2 memory and PCIe-based architecture

No TV tuner. Difficult to move DVD content or TV programming from iMac to iPod. Third-party mount required for arm mounting. 3D graphics are not upgradeable

Apple iMac G5 (17-inch)

A more compact, affordable version of its 20-inch big brother, the 17-inch Apple iMac G5 should appeal to home users with a shortage of desk space.

Built in 802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. Space-saving design.

A bit expensive. DVD combo drive instead of a DVD writer.

Apple iMac G5 (previous generation) review

Apple iMac G5 (2.0GHz, 20-inch) Finally, Apple saves its customers from bringing home an underpowered iMac. The key improvement: all new iMac G5s now ship with 512MB of memory, twice the default amount in the original's rollout last year. Along with...

Better specs lead to improved performance; brilliant wide-screen display; AirPort and Bluetooth are both standard features; ships with Tiger OS and iLife '05; quiet.

Lame mouse and keyboard; stand doesn't offer height adjustment; phone support lasts only 90 days.

Along with the new Tiger OS, the iMac G5 gets more muscle beneath its sleek exterior, making the all-in-one desktop a better performer and a better value.
