The all-in-one PC that's everything in one

Impressive battery life ; Light enough to carry ; Rubberized feet

Vented side gets hot ; Expensive ; Light performance

The XPS 18 won't make you compromise between a tablet to consume media and an all-in-one PC to create content. However, convenience can have a high price tag.

Dell XPS 18 review

The XPS 18 all-in-one PC is a little smaller than the Tap 20, with an 18.4-inch touch-sensitive IPS display that measures 18 mm thick. The entire unit weighs about 2.45 kg. See also: Dell XPS 10 Tablet review - basic Windows 8 RT tablet has great...

We were surprised how quickly we became used to having a device like the XPS 18 that could follow us from room to room. Of course, you could get a 15-inch laptop for half the price – but that wouldn’t have such a large and attractive HD display. That...

Dell XPS 18 takes the tabletop tablet lead

This 18-inch tablet doubles as a decent all-in-one, but you'll pay a premium for the flexibility.

The ; combines an all-in-one PC with a lightweight 18-inch tablet, making it a flexible system for at-home entertainment and productivity.

You're paying a premium for a relatively small screen. Less expensive configurations cut too many corners to be a good deal.

It's the best of the small handful of current tablet/all-in-one hybrids, with a subtle, sophisticated design and good battery life, but this new genre is still in its early days.

Dell XPS 18 Review

The XPS 18 is too large to work as a tablet, yet too small to compete with premium all-in-ones.

Manufacturers are currently experimenting with many hybrid designs. Some are based on laptops, others take inspiration from all-in-ones, and all of them are testing uncharted waters. Consumers seem to want a do-it-all device, but actually delivering it...

Dell XPS 18 (1820)

A lot like a big tablet with a docking station, the latest iteration of the Dell XPS 18 is thin, easy to tote around the house, and delivers 5+-hour battery life. That's more than enough to call this portable all-in-one desktop best in class.

Five-hour battery life. Portable around the house. Thinner and lighter than previous portable all in one PCs. Bundled charging stand has a wide range of tilt. 12-month McAfee Security subscription.

Stand lacks USB connectivity Limited ports. Kickstands are plastic/polycarbonate.

Though you likely won't be carrying the Dell XPS 18 (1820) on your daily commute, the system is certainly a worthy companion for moving around the house. Its battery pack gives you a healthy amount of rundown time, so you won't have to search for a...
