Digital Storm Bolt

The Digital Storm Bolt represents the best and worst of the trend toward smaller gaming desktops. It looks great, and offers plenty of gaming prowess out of the box, but it's not a great choice for gamers who want to tweak their systems or that demand...

Killer compact design. High-end performance, thanks to a quad-core Core i7-3770k processing and Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics

Case is difficult to open. Construction seemed haphazard. Small system doesn't leave much space for maintenance and upgrades

The latest trend in gaming PCs isn't overclocked behemoths or limitless upgradeability. Instead, the move is toward smaller systems, packing high-grade PC gaming components into slim, small-form-factor (SFF) designs. Some of this shift is an attempt to...

Digital Storm Bolt review: small package, small price, big performance

The Digital Storm Bolt may look small from the outside but it's heavy on performance once you fire it up. Just beware of the tight squeeze if you have to get into it.

Lots of power for its size ; Compact and quiet ; Stays surprisingly cool for being so cramped

The cover is a pain to remove ; Poorly placed front audio and USB ports ; Will be a pain to upgrade

Digital Storm's Bolt packs beefy power into a slim, sexy package. It's a bit of headache to get inside, but you shouldn't need to upgrade this machine for some time to come. This is a great choice for a PC gamer with a smaller room and a smaller...

Digital Storm Bolt review

Editors' Note: Due to a publishing error, this review was posted before final proofreading, listing incorrect configuration information, including the wrong graphics card. This information has since been corrected.

The Digital Storm Bolt offers a strong combination of performance and value in a compact design.

The case cover can be difficult to remove, and Digital Storm cut a few relatively harmless corners to keep the price low.

By sacrificing luxuries, the performance-focused Digital Storm Bolt will satisfy most PC gamers for significantly less than most other small gaming desktops.

Digital Storm Bolt Review

Relatively low priced for a custom rig

Paint job could be better; no horizontal mode

One is an outlier. Two a coincidence. But three, as we know from News Media Statistics 101, is a crystal-clear trend.
