Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400) review: Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400)

Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400)

Overclocked dual-core CPU delivers strong performance; compact size gives you flexibility and makes the system semiportable.

Not SLI-capable; small-scale system begs for wireless networking.

Falcon Northwest's new, fixed-configuration FragBox 2 is an overclocked, reasonably priced gaming rig whose small size invites you to put it pretty much wherever you want. If you're after that kind of flexibility and have reasonable gaming...

Falcon Northwest FragBox 2

If you're looking for the latest in small-form-factor gaming, Falcon Northwest's FragBox 2 keeps things current with its latest configuration. With high-end parts from AMD and Nvidia, this PC pushes the envelope both in performance and in price. It...

High-end components and fast performance; conveniently luggable form factor; cool-looking design; great display.

Expensive; noisy fans; overclocked parts not offered; poor warranty options; small-form-factor chassis precludes dual graphics cards.

Featuring the latest bleeding-edge components in a luggable form factor, the Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 aims for the well-heeled LAN-party gamer who doesn't want to compromise performance for portability.

Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 (AMD Athlon 64 4000+)

Compact gaming case. More gaming performance for much less money than our last FragBox 2. Good hardware mix.

Still a lot of money for a system without a monitor.

Though it's certainly not a bargain system, the Falcon Northwest FragBox 2 gives gamers exactly what they want—blistering gaming performance for a price that doesn't require a trust fund.

Falcon Northwest FragBox 2

Our former Editor's Choice grows up, with performance and features to match.

Transportable chassis saves space. With 600GB of hard drive space, plenty of room for video files. Optional extras improved from previous FragBox.

Pentium 4 Extreme Edition is expensive for the performance gained, thus this version of the FragBox 2 is, too.

At almost $6,000 as tested, the FragBox 2 does cost a pretty penny. While the 300GB hard drives ($600 upgrade), 20-inch LCD (about $950), and GeForce 6800 Ultra ($450 upgrade) certainly contribute to that price, the 3.466-GHz P4EE chip adds a...

Falcon Northwest Fragbox II

You know when a little person shows up in a Ben Stiller movie he's gonna whoop some ass. Sometimes that's not just a comedy film cliché. Take, for example, Falcon Northwest's size-challenged Fragbox II.

Faster than big, bad gaming desktops and almost fits under an airplane seat

Slightly noisy and could use faster disk I/O for the price

It is, however, smaller and faster than a lot of the gaming machines we’ve seen recently. Heck, it’s even cheaper than some of them too.
