Foxconn Nettop NT535 review

Off-the-shelf nettops usually have the same basic specification, with an Intel Atom processor, a small hard disk and 2GB of memory. However, barebones kits such as Foxconn's NT535 leave you room for a bit more customisation. It still has a modest...

Foxconn's compact barebones nettop is let down by the difficulty of opening it and its aging processor

Foxconn - NT-535

After the craze for netbook computers started to die down - mostly due to the sudden rise in popularity of tablets - manufacturers struggled to find a way to use up their massive oversupply of Intel's ...

The build quality of the NT-535 isn't the greatest - and the fan, while quiet, could become annoying in a living room environment - but it's a remarkably powerful machine for the price. Sadly, it is severely limited by its poor graphics performance -...

Falls short

if this had better video it would be great for a portable low power device. even install it in your car or tailgating vehicle! there are other models out there that put this to shame. it works and its just the intel video they selected could have been...

the concept is great love the sd card slot and choice of hdmi/vga onboard exterior audio speaker, good enough for basic computing

the video is horrendous! streaming even low quality videos is choppy and not even worth it. it is a little slow but i expected it to take a few seconds to get from page to page or open apps

Windows 2008 R2 X64 were the only Windows drivers that would work for a server class OS, so go X64 even though it has max 6GB of RAM just for the driver support. I also run an FTP server, Squid Proxy and a BigFix server on this little box without any...

After running this box for 6 months on Windows 2008 R2 X64 I am still very pleased with it ; Draws between 15 and 20 watts even with an external 1TB USB 2.0 drive attached and my Serviio media server streaming to 2 devices. $15/year in power, so no...

Linux is non-trivial on this box due to Intel's lack of support for Video drivers on the Intel Atom in general

Solid performance as an HTPC

Seems to cool better with convection in vertical position

Easy install. Previous reviewers had complained about difficulties in opening the case. My suggestion - make sure your Philips screwdriver fits snugly before you turn. Once the case is opened, installing SO-DIMM and 2.5" drive is a breeze. Windows 7...

HDMI maxes out at 720p or 1366x768. Included display driver/utility "Chrontel" loads at start-up and stays in the foreground .

Lots of bang for the buck

All the connectivity and cpu horsepower you need for common tasks in a very sleek package. I was able to run ubuntu 13.10 amd64 without issue, even some buttons of the included IR remote work such as volume control. I paired it with corsair 4gb ram...

The hard drive cradle has 4 screw holes to secure the drive, of course. I don't think there's a screwdriver small enough to get in there... you'll need to remove it to securely mount the disk. The eye candy that is enabled by default in ubuntu really...

Foxconn nT535-0h0w-B-A-NA

Works good with VGA monitor. When I hook it up to HDMI TV it works for a second and I see the Win 7 desktop. Then the TV goes black and complains about an unsupported device.

Compact. and quiet. Wireless N works nice.

Would be nice to have instructions on how to open the case!

Good... but not what we needed

Works great with windows 8.1 64 bit Very small Surprisingly fast, nothing amazing but it didn't lag all the time. Used CORSAIR 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Laptop Memory Model CM3X4GSD1066 G - Works great

Does not support 1080p - We are using it as a conference room computer and it wouldn't fill up the screen. Support suggested a program they provide that emulates 1080 but the quality is terrible. So we bought i2847 as foxconn support said it supports...
