Gateway GT5662

New in Gateway's line of "retail-model" PCs, the Gateway GT5662 ($750 direct) is available online and in big-box stores as a nonconfigurable, take-it-out-of-the-box-and-use-it PC. It's part of the growing category of midrange PCs that used to run...

750 price for a quad-core. Multimedia hard drive bay. DX10 and HD support on graphics card. 3GB of memory

Removable hard drive uses proprietary USB cable. Bloatware. Norton Internet Security 60-day trial subscription. Labelflash optical-disc labeling is incompatible with LightScribe technology

Quad-core makes the Gateway GT5662 a more capable system. If gaming isn't that important to you but everything else is (music, video, photos, and the like), this is a good choice.

Recertified: Gateway GT5662 - RA Phenom X4 9500(2.2GHz) 3GB DDR2 500GB ATI Radeon HD 2400XT Windows Vista Home Premium

Great basic machine

Would loved to have more expandablility with RAM. 4 GIGS tops on the mother board and Vista is a RAM eater

Good things and bad

A basic machine for a low price that could be made a lot faster by loading Win-XP instead. Upgrading hardware will pretty much require spending money for a new power supply first which negates the lower cost appeal. The machine sells because of the...

The processor is good. The audio is much better than the tiny included speakers would suggest. Comes with enough ram and a better than average 500gig hard drive

Lots of things. Barely adequate 300 watt power supply. "Labelflash" DVD burner uses expensive DVD's that are hard to find. NO drive activity lights and a blindingly bright power switch light. Gamers will want to get a new video card. No serial or...

Simply Amazing!!!

This doesn't come with a monitor but My family bought this $230 Acer 22" one and its very nice picture but you may wanna change the contrast or something.

This computer is simply amazing for the price!! The speakers look like they aren't good but they are pretty good for these type of speakers and the mouse feels comfortable with your hand the keyboard you can barely hear it as you type! Its super fast...

Just Works

It ran fine in it's stock condition but I almost immediately put in 4 gigs of faster ram and a ATI 3850 GPU. Like I said for the price and everything it comes with you just can't beat it.

The price was great! Big 500 gig hard drive. 3 gig of ram. Very good at multi-tasking

graphics card isn't the best. Not much else

Powerful computer for a Great price!

This computer is worth the money. With the AMD Phenom quad-core power, you can multi-task very easily. It is a very fast machine with its 3gigs or Ram, upgradable to four. Gaming is very good too. Although the graphics card isn't the greatest, it runs...

Vista. If only this computer could come preloaded with XP. Vista is a resource hogger and puts a workload on the computer. But so far this computer is powerful enough to overpower the downsides of Vista-Ive learned to deal with it. Also the graphics...

quad core for bargin price

buy this computer you will not regret it. you should also spend the money you saved and get a nice 22 wide screen flat panel to do this computer justice. I did this and this system rocks. 5 stars for Newegg, AMD, and Gateway what a great combination.

It's an AMD quad core for a little over $700 which is a great deal. I'm extremely pleased with the performance of this computer I can now have multiple programs running at once with no lag, life is good. This computer also looks really sharp with a...

Vista is taking some getting used to but this computer can easily power through it. The hardrive it a little bit noisy, but maybe that because the computer is so quiet like I can't even tell its on if it were not for the blue power light. The only weak...

Fairly good computer

It also came with a problem on bootup It states it is missing a sertain file and will skip AUTO CHECK

It's very fast for a mirange computer multitasking is a snap and after the right drivers and all updates are installed it is also pretty stable

Cheap low end power supply I swaped mine out. Vista premium 32 bit OS on the hard drive when this computer was built for a 64 bit OS. Burns CD's and DVD's very slowly at times. I also had to do a register fix to stop my Recycle Bin from being deleted...

MUST BUY

I got this comp and got a gateway 24'' with 3ms. one of the best monitors as far as picture quality...it has 92% color gamut. i would recommend it if you have $500! I got mine free but would have bought it anyways!

I didnt buy it from newegg. This computer is a beast though. I havent had a problems with it. I have a intel quad core and I think this one beats it. As far as the problems everyone talks abot the Phenom having....I havent had any. Havent had any...

Great

It is a cool looking piece of work, and does come with that gateway reliability.

If you have kids and plan on using this pc as a family computer you have picked the right computer. I didn't like vista until I worked with this computer. This computer is also good if you love high def. With it's its high def nvidea output taged along...

Does not come with a wireless router. Because of vista it is difacult to handle sometimes plus it takes up alot of space putting a damper in this computers potential
