HP Pavilion Elite M9000 series Desktop PC

Laptops might be putting down the sales of desktops by a factor of five, but it did not put off HP from announcing it's yet another family friendly PC. Hewlett Packard (HP) as a manufacturer of computer products, brought a new Desktop PC into the...

HP Pavilion Elite m9040n review: HP Pavilion Elite m9040n

HP Pavilion Elite m9040n

Updated design; fast, digital-media-oriented configuration; integrated IR receiver and wireless networking adapter eliminates external clutter.

No Bluetooth; RF receiver for wireless mouse and keyboard still external; 802.11b/g wireless, not draft N; overkill on external hard-drive bays.

HP's new digital-media-oriented Pavilion Elite m9040n is fast, loaded with features, and its new looks and newly integrated receivers improve its profile. Our main issue is the redundant bays for two of HP's proprietary external hard drives. If you can...

HP Pavilion Elite M9040n PC

At some point, you'll find that your old desktop PC is just too damn slow to handle multimedia tasks effectively. (Hint: When you're resizing pictures, ripping MP3s, or transcoding videos from you camcorder for uploading to YouTube, you'll become much...

Media drive bays. Quad-core performance. Nice price. Wireless keyboard and mouse. TV tuner. Integrated IR sensor with support for IR blasters. Easy Backup button. Multimedia enthusiast improvements, including cable management and rubberized top panel....

HD-DVD/Blu-ray drive currently unavailable. Dual media drive bays can be confusing. Internal wiring is cramped and nest-like. Bloatware. Internet security is for only a 60-day subscription

In features and performance, the HP Pavilion Elite m9040n is worthy of its "Elite" moniker, yet it's much more populist in price.

HP Pavilion Elite m9090a

The Pavilion m9090a is a media power station -- but really needs a better TV tuner, and perhaps the option to upgrade to a more serious video card -- then it could truly be called Elite.

Combo HD DVD/Blu-ray player ; Data/transfer bay on top ; HDMI ; Composite/S-Video/RCA audio in ; One touch backup

Single TV tuner means you can't record one show and watch another ; Analog video inputs have no acceleration ; DVD/HD software needs some attention ; Messy internals

Integrated WiFi and remote receiver ; Tons of multimedia features ; Great design and look ; Quad-core CPU ; CableCARD compatible TV tuner

hp comes through again... solid performance with a great price

great overall rig with lots of media center potential... i converted it into a gaming comp with an 8800gtx, pci exaust fan(got hot in there), new 550w power supply, and vista ultimate (for 64bit app)

included blu ray, hd dvd software is pathetic... i couldnt get it to work and upgraded to power dvd (works great but costs an extra $100)... some pesky trial software was annoying... and if your like me and want to turn it into a gaming rig then you...
