ITs teh cables!!

Norco needs to release a revision of this product. Its very close to being a winner.

Like most of the other reviewers i had problems with disappearing drives. I too called Norco and they tried to blame it on everything but the storage array. After a lengthy investigation into the problem, it turns out that some of the sata cables...

There is no LED activity for hard drive activity. This can be very problematic when trying to id a failed drive. The array can also be loud, so i replaced all the fans with quitter ones

Completely worth buying

Don't buy the RocketRAID infiniband cables sold on Newegg, they are not the right connector type. I found this out the hard way. Make SURE you know what type of connectors are needed!!!

Works as advertised right out of the box. Unlike some users I didn't have any problems with the drive trays or any other feature. Overall, this unit is heavy and built like a tank

Newegg's listing for this product only states that the infiniband connectors are of the "thumbscrew" type. For the infiniband novice, this means nothing, but it is very important that you find this particular flavor of infiniband cable or you will be...

You get what you pay for...

Bought two of these and filled them with 750GB drives for a 15TB RAID. The first oddity was that the drive numbers didn't match the labeling on the front. The drives are bundles in fours and 1/2/3/4 was really 4/3/2/1, etc. Worse yet, when one drive...

Inexpensive ; Inexpensive ; Inexpensive ; Inexpensive

Internal SATA cabling was miss-wired ; Noisy

Good Bang for your Buck!

SATA cables that come with it are fine, they are just bundled together and 3m in length(maximum SATA requirement), so the weight of all 4 cables can shift the jacks out of alignment. Also the SATA PCIx card the ID numbers are written so that when you...

Easy to remove HDs, and great cooling. Awsome deal for what you get. Works great with our 12-750gig Mirror Raid (Every drive is mirrored in pairs). Seems to be very solid. Works great in our old Single Mac 1.8 G5

Standard problem with SATA external cable connections. Had to replace one of the cables to maintain a constant connection, the weight of the cables often will loose a bit of the connection. But if you leave everything on, and don't move it or touch the...

Can't Complain at this Price

Cheap, cheap, cheap. Look what the other rackmount RAID chassis cost. More than 6x as much. And it works

Drive trays do not slide out easily. They get stuck badly. Lot's of extra feet in the SATA chain which can limit your options on the source end. About a meter of internal cable length means you need to plug the IB connector directly into a controller...
