Great Case

Above cons were not enough for me to take any eggs off the rating. It is still an excellent box, though more geared towards industrial use then HTPC use.

Quality built, has everything that I needed for my HTPC ; Quiet and sturdy case

Memory Slots are a bit awkward to work with ; Doesn't have a RESET button, but the POWER button does a similar job, just need to press it once for 4 secs to turn it off and then press it again to restart. A RESET button would have done it faster and...

worth every penny

In an age of dinky plastic computers, the sturdy steel chassis and practical design is very refreshing. The fans are quiet and all the parts fit nicely ; Plenty of USB ports (this was the main selling point for me). Liked that it had dual gigabit...

No display port interface and only 2 of the USB ports are 3.0

Shuttle DS61 V1.1

This was my very first build. Some of my cons are nit-picking, yes, but isn't that the purpose of a review? Small cons are still cons. I'm using it for database/web dev stuff primarily so the absence of more uber graphics isn't a big deal for me....

clean industrial black styling ; sturdy all metal chassis ; compact size ; vesa mountable ; impressive heat sink & fan assembly ; seems like a well thought-out interior - nice drive bracket ; runs quietly & cool ; solid selection of ports ; superior...

cmos jumper in inconvenient location (more below) ; external power cable could be more robust ; small chassis means close quarters inside even for my small hands ; might not play well with all keyboards (more below) ; pre-installed mobo may limit...

Shuttle DS61 V1.1

You can use this system for a wide variety of projects. USB3.0, dual gigabit NICs and virtually as processing power as you want.

Quiet, feature-packed and small

Price is a bit steep, graphics chipset didn't work with Linux out-of-the-box. No AMD version of this barebone system

Solid system with quality components

Everything about this system evokes good design with qualitly components. I'm running Xubuntu with a Celeron G1620 CPU, and the performance is outstanding. With the dual Ethernet ports, serial port, HDMI and DVI video out, and mini-PCIE slot; this...

None that I can think of

Good barebones system, unfortunate initial setup

Dinged a point for voltage jumper being incorrectly set on shipping, others not as knowledgeable would not have known to look for this and returned it for replacement.

Easy to setup, great support for Ubuntu 12.04

When I first set it up and turned it on, there was power to everything but video. Only after disassembling and comparing the motherboard diagram to the actual motherboard did I discover that the voltage jumper was set to 3.3 instead of 5 (the default...

Great System

My build: - This system - Intel i7-3770S quad core/HD 4000 - Seagate 1TB SSHD ST1000LM014 - 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10 (had it for a gaming laptop build that never came to fruition) Really happy with this. I built it and then set...

Durable and tough outer case ; Up to 65W CPU support - so quad core with HD 4000 is possible for great CPU and decent gaming ; Excellent cooling - my i7-3770S maxed out at around 80C during 8 hours of Intel Extreme Tuning Utility burn-in testing ; Up...

RAM install is pretty difficult but not horrible

This thing is great!

I really like this box. I've been wanting a Small Form Factor PC forever. I always chicken out before I pull the trigger and end up getting a mid-tower. This thing seems plenty powerful with an i3-3225, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD and it hangs nicely out of...

Sturdy, Good Build Quality ; Quiet, I can't hear it while it's mounted behind the TV ; Plenty of power for video streaming ; Really Small, Completely disappears behind the TV ; Includes Vesa Mounting Hardware

A little bit cramped, Installing the bottom dimm was tricky ; Blue Loctite on screws made some assembly more difficult ; Mounting to the TV was a bit tricky ; Making the Install USB drive took some time ; Copying the Driver CD to USB took a while
