Canon EOS M10

Compact system cameras are the way forward for those who are unhappy with their phone cameras. Capable of producing DSLR-quality shots, entry-level models generally cost significantly less than super-advanced compacts such as the Sony RX100 IV.

Canon EOS M10 hands-on: Canon’s weak mirrorless line-up continues

Using the new Canon EOS M10 is like taking a step back in time. And not in a good way. The original EOS M from 2012 was bottom of the mirrorless pack at launch, the M2 never came to Europe, and even the M3, announced earlier in 2015 , was behind the...

Canon launches a new entry-level camera for its mirrorless range

Proven 18Mp APS-C format sensor ; Well implemented touch control ; Nice build and reasonably small

No viewfinder or option to use an external unit ; No hotshoe for an external flash ; Limited lens range

There are no surprises about the M10 but it has enough features to make it enticing to beginners and it promises to deliver high quality images. We'll be paying particular attention to performance of the autofocus system when we get a production sample...

Canon EOS M10 review - hands on

We took Canon's mirrorless Canon EOS M10 for a shoot in a derelict, abandoned mill in East London

I came away from the hands-on impressed by the M10's capabilities for a compact mirrorless camera. It certainly made capturing images fast and easy and I can see it certainly appealing to its beginner target market. We'll get one in for a full review...

The Canon EOS M10 is Canon's new entry-level compact system camera, equipped with the same 18Mp APS-C sensor seen in its low-end DSLRs, but in a smaller camera that's designed to be easier to use. It also has some hi-tech features, such as a swivelling...

Canon EOS M10

The EOS M10 is another underwhelming mirrorless camera from Canon. There are better options available.

Compact design. Sharp, tilting touch-screen display. In-body flash. Adapter available for Canon SLR lenses. Wi-Fi with NFC.

Slow focus. Middling image quality. Limited Raw buffer. Lacks EVF option. Pricey for what it is. Limited lens selection. Video tops out at 1080p30.

Conclusions If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Canon's initial mirrorless effort felt like a first-generation product, and one that arrived years too late. The company has improved autofocus performance in the line—the EOS M3 and EOS M10...

Canon's new entry-level mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera shows commitment

The EOS M10 shows that Canon's committed to the mirrorless ILC market, but also that it's still behind the curve.

Canon EOS M10

The Canon EOS M10 is a great introductory ILC, perfect for anyone looking to upgrade from a point-n-shoot. Very similar to an EOS Digital Rebel, the M10 is much smaller and easier to carry, but will need an adapter to use the full selection of Canon EF...

iAuto shooting mode is accurate and easy in all situations ; Overall image quality is good, with a little added sharpness ; Optical image stabilization built into most Canon lenses ; High resolution, 180 degree tilting LCD screen ; Full 1080p video...

Default shooting settings in iAuto and Program were not as sharp as we hoped ; Highest ISO settings are not usable ; No hot shoe for accessories ; No wireless flash control to add a more powerful flash unit ; No Audio input to increase audio quality ;...
