Canon IXUS 310 HS review

The high-performance compact with a sense of style

Excellent build quality ; Full HD movies ; HDMI connectivity ; Impressive low light performance ; Good image quality

Touch screen controls can prove fiddly at times ; Images tend to be soft overall ; Price is a little high

Canon's latest crop of IXUS compacts continues to target fashion-conscious photographers who don't want to compromise on features, with the new 12.1mp IXUS 310 HS replacing the 10mp 300 HS.

Canon IXUS 310 HS

Canon's IXUS 310 HS is as much a pleasure to use as it is to hold, and packs an abundance of features alongside a vivid touch screen into a compact form.

Abundance of features, Excellent quality, Superb design and build

Flash close to the edge, Camera became warm with use

Canon IXUS 310 HS

This is Canon's best touchscreen camera yet, sporting a massive screen and plenty of features like HD video.

Aperture and shutter priority controls ; Great touchscreen, big and responsive ; Good image quality ; Nice bright lens

Lens aperture not very wide at telephoto end ; Short battery life ; Fringing quite pronounced at full magnification

This is Canon's best touchscreen camera yet, sporting a massive screen and plenty of features like HD video. It's not perfect, with a short battery life and only average shooting performance, but it's sure to win plenty of fans regardless.

Canon IXUS 310 HS Camera – Review

This sleek camera has lots of subtle yet superior differences from its predecessor, the IXUS 300 HS. For example, instead of a 28mm focal length, this has a wide 24mm. The touch-screen LCD, which almost fills the entire camera back, is slightly larger...

Good low light shots ; Easy to record movies ; Close focusing range

Short focal length ; No camera body to grip

Packed into a light body weighing 165g, this sophisticated camera slides easily in and out of trouser pockets and is easy to operate in an instant.

Canon IXUS 310 HS

The touch screen makes settings a breeze. Also, starting and stpping videos from the touch screen makes movie taking simpler than having to set a switch.

Battery life is low. We have 3 spare batteries.

Canon IXUS 310 HS

Small enough to put into your pocket.

Difficult to understand the workings of the camera, too much on a very small unit. The CD is only a printout of the written manual, not too impressed with it, but will learn l hope.
