Canon PowerShot A3400IS

It used to be that Canons smallest cameras were the Ixus brand. When this PowerShot arrived I had to look at the box to be sure it was a PowerShot as it is truly tiny and only the Canon Ixus offerings have been this small.

The Canon PowerShot A3400IS measures 9x5.5x2cm, the last figure can increase to 4.5cm with full zoom but unlike some other small cameras the amount the lens expands varies little according to the amount of zoom. While 5x is not huge by some recent...

Canon PowerShot A3400 IS

The Canon PowerShot A3400 IS may seem like a touch-screen bargain, but its overall poor performance makes it a tough sell—even at $180.

Sharp lens. Touch-screen LCD. Optical image stabilization.

Dismal low-light performance. Slow to start up and recycle. Excessive noise reduction. Limited to digital zoom during video recording.

Performance and Conclusions In terms of speed, the A3400 IS is a bit of a disappointment. The camera makes you wait 2.4 seconds after hitting the power button to take a photo, records a 0.4 second shutter lag, and makes you wait 1.4 seconds between...

Canon PowerShot A3400 IS Review

This year Canon has bombarded the entry level segment of cameras with their PowerShot A series. We have already reviewed the PowerShot A2400 and the A4000,

The camera is priced in India at a street price of Rs.9,695. This camera looks really good and does not resemble a camera priced in the sub-Rs.10,000 category. As for the features, the touch sensitive screen can be a useful addition as one can find...

We enjoyed using the Canon PowerShot A3400 IS. Its diminutive size meant we could just slip it in a pocket when we weren't using it and not worry about it getting in the way. The screen is nice and bright but we think it makes pictures look a bit nicer...
