Canon PowerShot A460 digital camera

The PowerShot A460 updates its predecessor, the A430 with a slightly larger 2-inch colour screen and an extra million pixels, bringing the total effective resolution of the new model to 5 million pixels. First up, do not be put off by the camera “only”...

Good ergonomics, image quality as lower ISOs, easy to use, good metering and colour, good lens

Blocky design, intrusive noise at ISO 400, flimsy plastic battery/memory card hatch, slow flash recycle time, noise reduction processing hampers detail at higher ISOs

First up, do not be put off by the camera “only” having 5-megapixel sensor. This simply means there are less noise problems to worry about at a given sensitivity and the more manageable file sizes generated means you get more shots onto whatever...

Canon PowerShot A460

Can this cheap little shooter give the big boys a run for their money?

The results were incredible for this price. Some minor exposure issues aside, it's a hard package to beat all in all

Canon PowerShot A460

Canon's PowerShot A460 is an entry-level digital compact that sports some advanced features to make it a tempting photo-treat, but is it?

Image quality, Easy to use, Focusing and macro mode, For an extra £40, it’s available as a bundle with the Selphy CP520 printer

Confusing four-way controller, Heavy on the power from AA cells, LCD prone to flaring in bright conditions, Limited sensitivity options, LCD blacks out during flash recharge

It’s true, there are a couple of weaknesses with this camera but they can be forgiven quickly for a camera at this level, given the good overall image quality, the performance and its sub £100 price. And, when you realise for another £40 you can buy...

The Canon Powershot A460 is a five megapixels camera with a four times zoom. It is one of the better entry level modes, but there are certainly one or two drawbacks you need to be aware of before parting with your hard earned cash.
