Canon PowerShot G1X

Canon's all-new flagship advanced compact uses the biggest sensor yet seen in a compact, but does it deliver the goods elsewhere?

Class-leading image quality for an advanced compact, Impressive high ISO performance, Super sharp lens that captures lots of detail, Vari-angle LCD screen adds flexibility, Useful built-in 3-stop ND filter

Canon G1 X review

Can the 14 megapixel Canon G1 X measure up to its Canon G12 sibling?

Solid construction ; Angle adjustable LCD ; Full range of manual controls

So-so battery life ; Lens is fixed ; Expensive

Canon PowerShot G1 X

Canon's G1 X looks a lot like the PowerShot G12, but has one crucial difference: a whopping-great 1.5-inch sensor size. The G1 X is the king of compact cameras when it comes to image quality. If you're after a camera that can produce DSLR-quality...

Cracking image quality, 14 bit raw images, sturdy build

Small viewfinder, can’t shoot subjects close to lens, focus could be faster, it’s rather big

The G1 X is the king of compact cameras when it comes to image quality. If you’re after a camera that can produce DSLR-quality images then look no further - the G1 X delivers.

Canon G1 X review

A premium compact camera bursting with high-end features, the Canon G1X is here

Simple assembly ; Ideal for location and studio use ; Well constructed yet lightweight

Further accessories likely to be needed ; Pricey ; Can be awkward if holding for extended periods of time

European Compact Camera 2012-2013

The image quality produced by the Canon PowerShot G1 X is at a level that can compete with many DSLR's. This is quite amazing for a camera with such a compact body. Using an sensor size that is between the APS-C and micro four thirds formats helps this...

Canon PowerShot G1 X review

While it is still unknown whether Canon will enter the compact system camera market, for now the PowerShot G1 X fills this gap in the company's range. The large sensor performs extremely well, and it is enough to rival many CSCs.With a 28-112mm...

Canon PowerShot G1X

This is a PowerShot but looking at it quickly you may consider it is DSLR unit as it is larger than the recent PowerShot offerings not in the battery area as it has a solid battery but all round as it is a chunky looking item.

The Canon PowerShot G1X weights 540grams quite a lot for a digital unit and it comes with a neck strap. It is 11.5x8x7cm but add between 3 to 5cm when switched on as the lens moves out by that much as soon as power is applied. If you use the TFT to...

Canon PowerShot G1 X compact camera

Review Canon's ever-popular Powershot G-series has a new and exciting addition that promises to expand the line-up rather than just upgrade it. While the new Powershot G1 X keeps some of the looks and features of its predecessor – the G12 – it also...

Once the novelty of an interchangeable lens compact has worn off wouldn’t most enthusiast photographers be tempted to simply choose between a G1 X-style compact or a DSLR, rather than a Compact System Camera? I certainly feel the proposition is a valid...
