Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z250 review

When it's time to take pictures, no one wants to fuss over camera settings. It's especially frustrating when you have to set up a point-and-shoot camera. After all, aren't you supposed to be able to simply "point and shoot"?

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z250 has a ton of preset modes to make it easier for just about anyone to take a nice-looking picture. If you are easily frustrated by gadget controls and settings, the EX-Z250 is for you. And it takes nice pictures, too.

Casio Exilim EX-Z250

The Casio Exilim EX-Z250 is a straightforward, pocket sized digital camera. It is available in black, red and silver. One of the biggest plus points is how easy it is to use. It has 10 megapixels and a 4x wide angle zoom lens.

Overall picture quality - closer macro mode

I was a bit disappointed with the picture quality produced by the Exilim EX-Z250. Looking at the price tag I think there are cameras with similar specifications offering better value for money.

Casio Exilim EX-Z250

Casio may not be the first name that springs to mind when weighing up your next digital compact camera purchase, but it's well regarded by industry insiders for its cameras' user-friendly operation, sturdy build and image quality. Casio cameras don't...

It would have been nice to see some manual exposure control or an aperture-priority option. Nevertheless, both models deliver good-quality snaps. The fact that file quality is so similar and both models have virtually identical handling and operation,...

Casio Exilim EX-Z250 review

If there is such a thing as a camera with too many automatic features, the 9-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z250 might be it. This ultracompact is brimming with detection, recognition, and preset shooting options to the point where the camera's Auto mode...

Slim, lightweight, and attractive; lots of auto-shooting features; wide-angle stabilized lens.

Slow performance; flat controls might frustrate some; soft photos.

Loaded with convenience features including a near-ludicrous 37 scene-shooting options, the Casio Exilim EX-Z250 is the auto-lovers' ultracompact.

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z250

Easy to use. Lots of shooting modes. Very good color quality. Good movie image quality using H.264 format

Casio Exilim z250

While the Exilim z250 has a lot going for it, including a sharp LCD screen and great video capture, it suffers from uneven image quality.

Records standard-definition video in widescreen (16:9) format. Sharp 3-inch screen. Low amounts of noise at high ISO levels. "Makeup level" is a fun feature.

Soft, unevenly focused images. Noticeable shutter lag. Strong amount of color fringing.
