Fujifilm FinePix A500 - digital camera review

Fujifilm FinePix A500

Low price; easy operation.

No manual controls; sluggish operation; average image quality; no burst mode.

The appeal of the basic Fujifilm FinePix A500's tiny price tag is offset by its slim feature set and mediocre performance.

Fuji Finepix A500

A five megapixel version of this easy to use Fuji digital camera range. If you are looking for true point and shoot then cameras do not come any easier than this one.

Ease of use ; Viewfinder

Picture quality ; Shutter lag ; Very basic movie mode

I am sorry to say the Fuji Finepix A500 failed to impress me. Although this camera is aimed at the cheaper end of the market I still expect more when it comes to picture quality. It also suffers from a noticeable shutter delay.

As a budget compact camera, the FinePix A500 is a fairly competant model. It doesn't offer the best image quality in the world, and has some noise issues, but for this price tag it is hard to complain.

Fuji FinePix A500

Fuji's 5MP FinePix shoots very good stills and gives you solid performance for less than $200.

Very good picture quality. Solid performance. No shutter lag.

Annoying zoom switch. Poor video quality. Slow recycle time. Images were a bit noisy, even at low ISO.

Fujifilm FinePix A500

The appeal of the basic Fujifilm FinePix A500's tiny price tag is offset by its slim feature set and mediocre performance.

Low price ; Simple operation ; Optical viewfinder

Cheap build quality ; Tiny LCD screen ; Unimpressive image quality ; No manual controls ; No burst mode ; Sluggish performance

The Fujifilm FinePix A500 is a very basic camera with sluggish performance and washed-out, mediocre photos that match its low price tag. That said, it's easy to use and inexpensive, so it might satisfy those with thin wallets, poor eyes, and patience....
