Fujifilm S5 Pro digital SLR camera

Based on the body of Nikon's D200, which means it accepts a wide range of compatible lenses, the 12Mp Fujifilm S5 Pro is Fuji's only digital SLR camera. It comes highly recommended.

In short, if you're not stuck firmly in the Canon or Nikon user camp, the Fujifilm S5 Pro is a reliable digital workhorse of a camera and comes highly recommended.

Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro

The special qualities of Fuji's Super CCD SR Pro sensor provide the wide dynamic range, low image noise and contrast control that make this camera stand out from the general DSLR market. Fuji has used a rugged body, faster processing, more flexible...

Fuji Finepix S5 Pro Review

While other camera manufacturers have been trying to fit more and more megapixels on a sensor, Fuji has been developing and improving its Super CCD, which promises to capture a wider dynamic range than other types of sensor. Daniel Lezano takes a close...

The S5 Pro is an impressive SLR with a sensor that delivers the extra dynamic range it promises and with a resolution high enough for A3 prints with excellent sharpness. It’s slow compared to some, but other than this it performs brilliantly. Shop...

Fujifilm S5 Pro

With a digital SLR camera you can produce superb photographs with strong technical attributes. The Macworld team take a look at six worthy contenders.

Bags of detail, wide dynamic range, rich colours, built well, reliable metering and even exposures, good battery life, compatible with Nikon lenses

Bulk and weight, lenses cost extra, no rapid fire continuous mode

We used an AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF ED lens. Pictures shot at ISO3200 deliver results comparable to those normally seen at the lower ISO800 setting on competing brands, which is a real plus, even if the lens itself was not the sharpest...

Fujifilm's 12.5-megapixel S5 Pro digital SLR combines the extended dynamic range capabilities of Fujifilm's Super CCD SR sensor with a solid body and functions closely related to the Nikon D200.

Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro

Fuji has upgraded the S3 - skipping a generation to launch the S5

Rock solid build means that the Fuji S5 will withstand a few knocks in the heat of the action, improved speed of operation, impressive exposure latitude whether shooting landscapes or portraits, image noise unproblematic up to ISO1600, vivid colours...

You'll have to budget for your own compatible Nikon F-mount lens on top of the price of the camera itself, plus the body is bulky. Expensive if considered from a consumer rather than a professional/enthuiast perspective and there are some question...

Fujifilm currently has one and only one digital SLR on the market - and thus it has been so since 2002. The S5 is a respectable addition to its cannon, Fuji having listened to the wants of previous generations of photographers, and generally ramped up...
