Excellent image quality.Excellent colours.28 mm equivalent wide angle.10.7X zoom.Powerful flash.High resolution EVF.Adjustable monitor.xD and CompactFlash I/II slots.Excellent ergonomic design.

Image corners less sharp than the centre with wide angle shots.Compression a touch too strong at the highest JPEG image quality.Not enough compression choices.No image stabilization system.Bundled software does not take advantage of the RAW format.

FinePix S9500 : Fuji FinePix S9500 zoom

I think of this as a semi professional digital camera however the price seems to put it in the amateur camp. Certainly making adjustments to zoom and focus on the lens stem is a big leap from point and shoot.

FinePix S9500 Zoom

The nine-megapixel S9500 Zoom replaces the prosumer S20 Pro at the top of the FinePix range. There isn't much difference between the two in terms of size - both cameras are bulky - but the new zoom lens makes the S9500 feel a much larger proposition.

Lots of features make this a versatile camera. A quality 10.7x optical zoom with a 28-300mm range and super-fast ISO1600 at full resolution are the main attractions.

No image stabilization, and the flip-out screen looks very small. Noise levels at maximum sensitivity may not be acceptable to some.

Overall, the S9500 offers a slick layout that any SLR user will find intuitive. But, at £500, you might be able to pick up an entry-level digital SLR at a similar price. Even so, anyone in the market for a versatile camera with a quality zoom should...
