Fujifilm Z1

The Fujifilm Z1 is slim, sleek and very sexy. But is it a case of style over substance?

Fujifilm Finepix Z1 review

Still one of the best-looking compacts around, and that toughened glass will keep the LCD from getting weathered in your pocket.

Fujifilm’s FinePix Z1 is chic, clever and tough. It has a top look and feel, and is well worth the cash.

Fuji FinePix Z1 Digital Camera

The Z1 features the same CCD technology as that found in the FinePix F10, its SuperCCD HR technology providing 5.1-million pixel resolution in an extremely svelte package. The camera is so thin because it incorporates a lens with folded optics that...

Stylish, well made and simple to use digital compact with good resolution and picture quality with low noise at higher ISOs.

Lack of manual controls, flimsy and fiddly plastic memory card/battery cover, no optical viewfinder and counter intuitive menus.

While the lack of manual controls may put some off, the Z1 offers an ideal combination of point and shootability with bags of style - despite the handling compromises. And like the F10 before it, Fuji’s Super CCD HR sensor with which the Z1 is equipped...

Fujifilm FinePix Z1 Zoom

Several of the big camera manufacturers seem to think there is room for good-looking but low-featured point-and-shoot digicams on the market. With the FinePix Z1 Zoom, Fujifilm has proved itself no exception.

If you have any ambitions beyond aiming the camera at the subject of your pictures, the FinePix Z1 Zoom probably isn't for you. If you want an efficient point-and-press workhorse, it might be nearer the mark, although you can get the same or better for...

Very compact.Solidly built.3x optical zoom.Good colour rendition.2.5 inch monitor.Reacts quickly to controls and shutter release.

A bit sensitive to noise.Compression a bit too strong. Some distortion at both ends of the zoom.Poor results with flash and auto ISO.

Fujifilm - FinePix Z1

We've seen a few digital cameras that are smaller and lighter than the Fujifilm FinePix Z1, but they have tended to be credit card-sized things that are gimmicks. By contrast the FinePix Z1 is a real ...

We can overlook the proprietary xD memory card format and the insistence on the use of a dock for transferring photos and charging the battery, but we think that a camera of this specification should be able to take high quality snaps under any...

The Fuji Finepix Z1 is a very impressive ultra compact digital camera. I was very taken with the design and this is backed up by very good picture quality. This is one of the best slim digital cameras I have tested.

Not a bad camera. It looks stylish, but if you're after quality photos and a bunch of manual settings to tweak them, look elsewhere.
