Fujifilm GFX 50R Review | Trusted Reviews

Fujifilm's new medium format camera combines a huge sensor with rangefinder-style handling. Is it the dream camera for documentary photographers?

Masses of details in images ; Relatively light body ; Robust build ; Great JPEGs straight out of camera ; Two cards slots

Not the easiest body to handle ; No 4K video recording ; Small AF lever a little fiddly ; EVF can show aliasing with fine details ; No sensor-based image stabilisation

The GFX 50R won’t be for everyone – even those who can afford it – but if you need to be relatively mobile without compromising on image quality, this deserves to be on your shortlist.

Fujifilm GFX 50S

The wait for Fujifilm's eagerly anticipated medium-format mirrorless camera is over. This monster is aimed at professional and commercial shooters who insist on nothing but the finest image quality – and to that end it boasts a sensor 1.7x larger in...

Fujifilm GFX 50R review

Glorious medium-format made more affordable

Massive medium-format sensor ; Tilting screen ; Inbuilt viewfinder

Video restricted to Full HD ; Big and heavy ; Expensive

Medium format isn’t suited to everybody - it’s big, it’s not cheap and it’s cumbersome - but the files are bloody gorgeous. By reducing the price, Fujifilm brings medium format within the realms of mass affordability - we’re hooked.

Fujifilm GFX 50S review

Medium format, big appeal

Richly detailed shots ; Weatherproof build ; User-friendly ; More compact than many MF cameras

That price tag ; Limited video options and no 4K ; Not built for speed

Not cheap, but no camera we've tested takes better photos than this

Fujifilm GFX 50S review

Fujifilm skips full-frame and goes straight to medium format

Breathtaking image quality ; Ergonomic controls ; Weather-sealed body ; Very accurate AF

Only 1/125 sec flash sync ; Awkward exposure comp. control ; AF is slow

The Fujifilm GFX 50S isn't a camera designed for speed junkies, but if you're prepared to shoot in the slightly more methodical manner the camera demands you'll be rewarded with some truly stunning results. The hefty price will persuade many that...

Fujifilm GFX 50R review: Hefty and unwieldy, but it takes some cracking photos

The 50R produces astonishing images, but it will cause you no shortage of pain in the process

Phenomenal image quality ; Packed with features

Weighty and tiring to hold ; Irritatingly difficult to use

The 50R isn’t for everyone. While perhaps not capable of quite so superlative image quality, equivalently expensive full-frame DSLRs are probably the better bet for the vast majority of photographers. They might – arguably – be a step behind for image...

Fujifilm's $4,500 GFX 50R hits a new low price for medium format

The company's eagerly awaited "affordable" version of its GFX 50S trims features you probably won't miss -- and a couple you might.

Fujifilm GFX 50R Review

Fujifilm GFX 50R Review - The Fujifilm GFX 50R is Fujifilm's "entry level" 50mp medium format mirrorless camera, available from £3999 body only, we found out how it performs.

The Fujifilm GFX 50R offers one of the most affordable routes into medium format shooting. There really is very little difference in the results possible from both the GFX 50R and 50S, meaning you are getting excellent value for money.
