Fuji X-A2 review

Fuji's most affordable CSC gets a little upgrade for selfie-lovers

Overall image quality ; AF performance ; Classic Chrome film simulation

No viewfinder ; No remote camera control via Wi-Fi ; Beaten for resolution by 24Mp rivals

A solid feeling entry-level interchangeable-lens camera which lacks a viewfinder, but that has enough other features to satisfy novices and enthusiasts on a budget. Image quality is also usually high.

Fuji's retro-inspired X-series gets a capable new entry-level model

Affordable price ; Decent quality kit lens ; Strong build quality and performance

No viewfinder ; Screen hard to use in sunlight ; Adjustment dial gets jogged frequently

A solidly built entry-level system camera offering a lot for the price

Fujifilm X-A2 Review

Fujifilm's entry level mirrorless camera has been updated to join the "Selfie" generation, with a new tilting screen and additional upgrades, but how does the X-A2 perform?

Excellent 16-50mm II OIS kit lens ; Very good value for money ; Excellent noise performance ; Excellent colour reproduction ; Impressive detail and resolution ; Dynamic range expansion works well ; 3inch tilting screen ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; Printed...

Lacks panoramic mode ; Lacks HDR shooting ; Advanced filters don't save raw files ; Wi-Fi doesn't allow remote operation ; RAW not available when using ISO100, 12800, 25600 ; Limited video options

The Fujifilm X-A2 is introduced with an improved 16-50mm II OIS kit lens, and despite being a kit lens, it delivers excellent image quality with a useful wide-angle to telephoto zoom range and includes a good sized lens hood. The combination of this...

Fujifilm X-A2

The Fujifilm X-A2 is a very capable mirrorless camera, but it's a little pricey for an entry-level model.

Solid image quality. 5.6fps burst shooting. Attractive design. Sharp kit lens. Built-in flash. Selfie LCD. Wi-Fi.

A little slow to focus. Doesn't support add-on EVF. No remote control via Wi-Fi. Video limited to 1080p30. No mic input.

Performance and Conclusions The X-A2 starts and captures an in-focus image in about 1.6 seconds, focuses in 0.15-second, and can shoot at up to 5.6fps in continuous mode. It's not the speediest mirrorless camera in terms of startup, but it's not as...

Very good image quality ; RAW and JPEG formats available ; Plenty of automatic and manual control shooting options ; Good performance times overall ; Can shoot at up to 5.6 frames per second in burst mode with the right lens attached ; Popup flash...

Limited movie recording to 30 frames per second ; Back panel control buttons could be a little bigger ; Mode dial could be smaller, as it has too many options ; Touchscreen LCD would be nice to have in this type of camera ; No viewfinder option...
