High quality electronic viewfinder ; Tilting screen ; Respected sensor and processing engine

Screen not touch-sensitive ; No increase in sensor size despite larger camera body ; No simultaneous raw file recording with filter effects

Although it doesn't improve upon the image quality of the X20, the X30 makes a few useful upgrades to enhance handling and make it more versatile. However, there are similaly sized (and smaller) cameras with larger sensors.

Retro-themed design appeal, tilt-angle screen is useful, great electronic viewfinder, love the twist-barrel lens for speed, new manual focus/control ring,, faster autofocus than predecessor, solid build quality doesn’t disappoint, low ISO image quality...

High ISO sensitivities not so hot, larger scale than X20, shutter speed limits (1/000th sec and above rarely achievable) and no electronic shutter option, so-so continuous autofocus, still no 24mm equivalent wide-angle, Sony RX100 III and Panasonic...

As we declared in our initial Fujifilm X30 preview, this camera is bigger, bolder and better than its predecessor.

Fujifilm X30

The X30 is by far the best iteration of this line of Fujifilm's compacts. It is one of those cameras that we just gelled with, feeling as if all we are able to do is to concentrate on shooting while the X30 does the rest.
