HP PhotoSmart C912 (Pentax EI-2000)

The fact that the SLR is stationary makes us assume that the considerablepart of light is lost. The matrix here seems to be not very sensitive sincethe sensitivity range is from 25 to 400 ISO. The standard value is 100ISO, and considering the fact that...

HP PhotoSmart 912 2in 1600x1280 16MB JPEG/TIFF Digital Camera Camera Review - PCWorld

The PhotoSmart 912 is a great choice for photographers who want to go digital but still love the heft and action of a 35mm SLR camera.

HP PhotoSmart C912 Digital Camera Review

You may think that I have a lot to complain about the HP PhotoSmart C912 digital camera. As a serious amateur photographer, I do and I think I am not being unfair.

In Loving Memory of My First Digicam

Note: this camera is no longer in production, but you might be able to buy it second-hand. Read on if you are a macro buff AND/OR a photographer looking for a camera with true SLR functionality, but lack the bucks needed for a pro D-SLR. Size, ...

true optical TTL viewfinder, perfect ergonomics, high degree of control, great macro mode

sub-optimal sharpness(except in macro mode), unreliable autofocus, poor auto WB, high energy consumption

Hewlett-Packard Photosmart C912/C912xi

Good camera for entry level used-to-SLR photographer that moving to digital. Wish that this camera has movie recording capability too. But to be honest, there's a lot of weaknesses on this camera. But I don't mind with the price. I bought it second...

SLR feel, has normal threaded filter mount, so you can use normal SLR filters.

Color is not well saturated - Image produced are not sharp - Image is not recorded in 3:4 scale - BATTERY!! This digicam drain battery like hell with LCD on! 15 minutes only with fresh battery! - No motion picture capability - Sloooooooooooow - No...

Excellent "Point & Shoot" camera

At $275, this was best deal I've gotten this year. This camera is everything I've wanted in a digital camera, from the TTL viewing to the choice of full manual operation, or three automatic choices. External buttons and selectors allow for quick change...

full manual as well as automatic modes. Hot shoe allows external flash. TTL view

Slow... no quick sequential or movies. Images tend to be rather "soft".

Hewlett-Packard Photosmart C912/C912xi

At $275, an excellent buy. The 35mm SLR "feel" is there. The choice of modes, settings, features is extensive enough to satisfy the amateur user. This camera is easy to use due to so many "on camera" switches ... no need to go through extensive menue...

Many options, including, auto modes, manual operation, scripting. Manual mode is very powerful feature. TTL imaging is a real plus. Hot shoe for external flash allows use of external flash units.

Relatively slow ... not good for sequential shooting, movie action. Images are "soft", they do not seem as crisp and sharp as I expcted from this "prosumer" catagory camera ... however, computer photo software does very well with this situation.

Hewlett-Packard Photosmart C912/C912xi

Best thing going!!!! True SLR except for lens interchangeability. But who cares it goes from 34 to 107 mm. Easy and fun to use. Once you get use to it it takes great photos.

TTl viewfinder and metering. Great photos Easy to handle for someone who grew up with slr 35mm cameras

NONE!!!!!!

Hewlett-Packard Photosmart C912/C912xi

More features than you can get at twice the price. You can use any external flash with this camera (most digitals in this price range don't have a hotshoe).

Hotshoe Wireless remote Multiple program functions Handles just like your 35mm SLR Has SLR viewing to save on batteries

Resolution needs to be over 3MP. Colors & contrast not as good as my Epson.
