Kodak EasyShare M893 IS

It costs under £80, but is the M893 cheap and cheerful or cheap and nasty?

Kodak EasyShare M893 IS

Hard on the heals of Kodak's M863, which we tested a few weeks back, the M893 IS offers a very similar specification in a very similar body size and style too. A stylish, lightweight snapper it feels rather plasticy; it's equipped with a decent...

Easy to use, price, image quality at lower sensitivity, image stabilisation

Sluggish performance, overly rich colours, noisy images at higher ISOs

The Kodak EasyShare M893 IS provides nice features within a tidy, pocketable design but image noise and sluggish performance don’t do it any favours.

Kodak EasyShare M893

One of the latest batch of Digital Cameras from Kodak. Having recently (06-07-08) looked at a quite reasonable offering from them can this pocket offering match up.

click to enlarge Certainly an item aimed at the novice user but this is not helped by a user guide (12 languages) that does not go into enough detail. There is help on the camera that would be enough for the intermediate user but would they be...

Kodak EasyShare M893 IS

Camera designers must have the easiest job in the world. With some models, such as the M893 IS, they took a rectangle, put a circle on the front and added some buttons. Job done.

Good price; Good size and weight; Decent image stabiliser

Poor macro performance

Kodak EasyShare M893 IS

Kodak's EasyShare M893 IS is the company's latest top of the line compact, packing in a variety of features such as face detect and optical image stab...

Crisp images, optical image stabilisation, low price tag

Colours can be inaccurate, sluggish at times, noisy at higher sensitivities

While the Kodak EasyShare M893 IS carries a relatively low price tag, it can be slow at times while the image quality leaves a little to be desired at times.

Kodak Junk

Pros Seemed like a nice little starter camera for my teen. Not too expensive. Took nice pictures in the 4 days before parts fell off. Cons Big mistake in trusting Kodak to be good and stand by it's product. In just 4 days the Mode Selecter Dial fell...

Do not buy this camera!

It could have been just this particular camera was defective. We returned and was credited with the product cost and tax, but lost money on the shipping.

It's pretty (red)

We could never get it to take pictures without holding down the on/off button. We sent it back

Easy to use

Kodak should bring the V705 camera back

This is easy to use if you are just shooting everyday pictures

Does not take good pictures of bathrooms or other snall areas. We had a Kodak V705 and loved it and this camera doesn't even compare to that one. Was very disappointed in the overall picture quality and the time after you snap picture that you have to...
