Kodak EasyShare Z710

Cliff proves that more megapixels don't necessarily mean a better camera.

Although the Z710 is externally almost identical to the Z650, there are several differences on the inside. The Z710 features a 7.1 megapixel 1/2.5in CCD. This is the same small physical size as the sensor in the Z650, but Kodak has squeezed an extra...

Kodak EasyShare Z710 review

The latest long zoom from Kodak that's anything but super

Interface easy to use

Long lens lacks stabilisation ; Fiddly joystick ; Image quality

For every benefit on board this Kodak, there's a disadvantage to match

Kodak EasyShare Z710 digital camera

The Kodak EasyShare Z710 lifts the resolution stakes of its predecessor the Z650 by a million pixels but otherwise is identical in almost all respects. A lightweight, plastic body feels fragile and creaky but thanks to some rubberised, and nicely...

Easy to use, image quality at low sensitivity, sharp lens, handling

Plastic build, on/off button always activates pop-up flash, poor LCD and EVF, image processing strips detail, barrel distortion, low frame rate movie mode, unresponsive

The Z710 is pricey for what it is, it has some odd flaws in design such as that maddening flash/on/off button and it has a build, best politely described as “plasticy”.

Kodak EasyShare Z710 review

The Z710 is amazingly small for an SLR-styled camera but it feels a little cramped, and its design seems a bit too cute to be taken seriously.

An impressive pick for beginners

Despite a few grumbles, this is a good camera for beginners who want ease of use plus some creative control

Kodak EasyShare Z710

Some cameras are built up to reach a certain quality; others are built down to reach a certain price. It's not hard to guess into which category a 10x super- zoom tipping the scales at under £200 might fall

Interface easy to use

Long lens lacks stabilisation, Fiddly joystick, Image quality

For every benefit on board this Kodak, there's a disadvantage to match

Kodak EasyShare Z710

This looks rather like a 35mm offering and it has functionality. It is very useable as a basic digital camera coming with internal memory but it can support an SD card.

It is 8x9x7.5cm when closed and weights just over 300grams. It has 10x optical zoom and while this is becoming more normal now not long ago this would have been a very high specification as around '3x' would have been the norm. Like a lot of other...

Kodak EasyShare Z710

The 7.1-megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 is a superzoom compact featuring a 10x zoom, PASM controls and a 2in LCD display.

Nice price, focal range, manual exposure controls

Average image quality, small LCD screen, sensitive pop-up flash

Delivering average image quality and performance, the Z710 is nevertheless good value for those seeking enhanced creative features on a budget.

Review: Kodak Z710

A 10X zoom that will get you close to the action but without the image quality to back it up. A disappointing showing from Kodak.

Easy to use control system, huge zoom lens, compact size

Below average image quality, annoyances in handling, no battery charger, no Image Stabilisation

Kodak EasyShare Z710

For every benefit on board this Kodak, there's a disadvantage to match. The long 10x lens is soft and lacks stabilisation, the manual features are worked via an imprecise joystick and 7 Mp images are simply neither sharp nor clean enough. An average...
