Kodak PIXPRO S-1 Review

We test the Kodak PIXPRO S-1 Micro Four Thirds camera, with built in Wi-Fi and wide-angle zoom lens.

Good value for money ; Good battery life ; Kodak film colour modes ; Wide-angle zoom lens ; Wide range of Micro Four Thirds lenses ; Built in Wi-Fi ; AdobeDNG raw files

Telephoto zoom lens poor (pre-production) ; Screen difficult to see in bright sunlight ; Continuous shooting not available when shooting RAW

The Kodak PIXPRO S-1 offers very good value for money, as well as built in Wi-Fi, and with it using the popular Micro Four Thirds lens mount, there the widest range of lenses available of any mirrorless system, with lenses available from Olympus,...

Kodak PIXPRO SL10 Smart Lens Review

The Kodak PIXPRO SL10 smartphone accessory is designed to boost your phones photo taking power with a 10x optical zoom lens and 16 megapixel camera.

10x optical zoom lens ; Optical Image Stabilisation ; Full HD Video recording ; Zoom can be used in videos ; Wi-Fi / NFC connectivity ; Remote control software gives good control of camera settings ; 6fps continuous shooting and quick shot to shot time...

No built in flash - see SL5 ; Larger (and heavier) than the ; Sony Cyber-shot QX10 ; Slow shutter response ; Slow focus when using optical zoom in videos ; Slow refresh rate on smartphone ; Average noise performance ; Can't turn the sounds off

The slightly smaller SL5, with 5x optical zoom lens and built in Xenon flash could be a better option, as it offers optical zoom, along with a flash, which will be of benefit particularly in places where the LED flash of a smartphone won't be of much...

Kodak Pixpro S-1

The Kodak Pixpro S-1 mirrorless camera offers an attractive feature set, but it's on the slow side and the bundled lenses leave a lot to be desired. Better options abound.

Micro Four Thirds lens system. Tilting rear display. In-body stabilization. 4.2fps continuous shooting. In-camera Wi-Fi.

Slow. Clunky controls. Bundled lenses aren't great. Omits in-body flash.

Performance and Conclusions The S-1 has no shortage of useful features, but performance is disappointing. The camera takes an eternity—2.9 seconds—to start and capture an in-focus shot. Autofocus is also poky—in good light it requires an average of...

Kodak Pixpro SL10 Smart Lens

The Kodak Pixpro SL10 adds a 10x zoom lens to your Android or iOS smartphone, but it's a bit awkward to use.

Sharp 10x zoom lens. Good image quality at higher ISOs. On-camera shutter and zoom controls. Wi-Fi with NFC. iOS and Android compatibility. 5.6fps burst capability. Inexpensive

Awkward to use. Slow to lock focus and fire. Doesn't support SDXC memory. No support for Windows Phone. No flash

There's very little question as to where JK Imaging got its inspiration for the Kodak Pixpro SL10 Smart Lens ($229). From a design perspective, it's a clone of Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-QX10, the first mass-market attempt at a digital camera that is...

Kodak Pixpro S-1 First Impressions Review

Kodak is arguably the most famous brand name of all in photography, at least in the Western world. But the company responsible for such iconic products as the Box Brownie and Kodachrome (and even the world's first digital camera in 1975) ultimately...

Kodak PIXPRO SL25 Review

Kodak's attachable smartphone lens, the Kodak PIXPRO SL25, aims to broaden things with its 16-megapixel 1/2.3” BSI CMOS sensor and long 25x optical zoom range. Naturally, it requires a smartphone for users to fully reap all the benefits of its features...

25x zoom lens gets you really close ; Excellent image quality with outdoor shots ; It can be used independently to shoot photos

Bulky size doesn’t make it discrete in the pockets ; Latency issues with smartphone app & capturing content ; Pricey

The Kodak PIXPRO SL25 is the company’s highest priced smartphone attachable lens at the moment, where it’s slapped with an MSRP of $299. They do have another model, the SL10, which features a 10x zoom lens and is priced less at $230. Honestly, it’s a...

Kodak Pixpro S-1 Review

The Kodak Pixpro S-1 is a new entry-level mirrorless compact system camera. The plastic-bodied S-1 features a 16 megapixel Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor, 3-inch tilting LCD screen, ISO range of 200-12,800, 1080p HD movie recording, built-in Wi-Fi...

Despite the slightly tentative release of this model in the West, with the 16 megapixel Pixpro S-1 we get the sense that Kodak - or rather its current license holder JK Imaging - is certainly heading in the right direction and revealing a desire to...
