Nikon Coolpix 5700

The Nikon Coolpix 5700, was seen as the replacement of the Coolpix 5000 in 2002. But with the introduction of newer models either side, the 5400 below and the 8700 above, does the silver medal winner deserve to stand in the middle ground of this range?

Expandable outfit, low price, magnesium body, features rich

Poor auto focus in low light, LCD is unrepresentative of true image quality.

Overall, the Coolpix 5700 is an acceptable camera. The age of the technology that powers it is beginning to show. The menus have been greatly clarified in the 2004 Nikons and I suspect the failures of the auto-focus and LCD screen were more down to a...

Nikon Coolpix 5700

Introduced at around the same price as the Coolpix 5000 was back in September 2001, the Coolpix 5700 offers a whole host of new features, while sharing some elements of design.

Review: Nikon CoolPix 5700 Digital Camera

Don Bradbury takes a look at the current status of this popular digicam.

Of course, for £700 (£600 street price) you could opt for the new Nikon 8800. With an eight megapixel CCD, a 10x optical zoom lens, and a vibration reduction lens element to effectively give you a couple of stops worth of light gathering power without...

NIKON COOLPIX 5700

The 5700 is compact and packed with features, and its speedy, easy to use and smartly designed. The thing that really sets it apart from the crowd, though, is the zoom length, which goes to a whacking 280mm. This makes it an ideal mode

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera Camera

WHAT'S HOT: The Coolpix 5700 has all of the controls and imaging muscle of the Coolpix 5000, but ups the zoom range from 28mm to 85mm (3X, 35mm equivalent) to a powerful 35mm to 280mm (8X). We would have preferred, though, that the 5700 start at a...

Most of what we said about the Coolpix 5000's controls holds true for the 5700. Many of its controls were tough to decipher at first; time and practice are needed to learn the finer points of using this camera. In one improvement, while the 5000 had...

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera (Nikon-25504)

If you don't mind an electronic viewfinder, the 5700 offers most everything a serious photographer needs. Its 8X zoom makes the 5700 especially suited for sports and nature photography.

Nikon Coolpix 5700 review

Nikon Coolpix 5700

8X optical zoom; extensive feature set; crisp photos with very low noise.

Tough learning curve; slightly sluggish autofocus.

Shooters who know their photographic stuff will be thrilled with the Nikon Coolpix 5700's sophisticated feature set.

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Review

The new eight times zoom, five megapixel Coolpix 5700 was announced on May 29th, 2002 as part of a trio of new Coolpix digital cameras from Nikon. The 5700 marks the next logical progression from the Coolpix 5000 and adds a big eight times optical zoom...
