Nikon Coolpix S52c review

There's competition for the best-looking camera in this Labs, but the S52c wins it for us. The glossy, deep purple finish has a sparkly shimmer, and the 3in screen makes composing and reviewing shots a pleasure.

Nikon Coolpix S52c

There's not only a cutting edge feature and beautiful curves to look at, but the Coolpix S52c also offers decent photographic features such as a 4cm macro mode, high resolution and interesting picture styles to have fun with your photography.

Cool new design; Wi-Fi capability; Different features; Good macro capability

Poor shutter lag performance

Nikon Coolpix S52c

The S52c from Nikon's Coolpix range is a good all-rounder on this score, well-equipped with its nine megapixels for taking great snaps in a variety of conditions.

The camera is easy to use and has a handy dial controller on the back. This can be rotated or used like a directional joypad, offering a versatile way of scrolling through menus and options

Nikon CoolPix S52c

Stylish compact camera with Wi-Fi

Wireless connectivity, stylish design

Very sluggish performance, noise not particularly well controlled

Nikon's CoolPix S52c is a good option if Wi-Fi connectivity sounds useful for you. However, it is extremely slow at times, which becomes frustrating in some shooting scenarios.

Nikon Coolpix S52c Review

Nikon returns with another familiar looking Wi-Fi enabled Coolpix S camera, the Nikon Coolpix S52c.

Pleasing, true-to-life images ; Wi-Fi as good as ever ; Slim form factor ; AF performance dramatically improved

Still not always easy to hop on free Wi-Fi ; Battery life a challenge ; Lots of little lens niggle ; Some ominous body squeaks and rattles

From the beginning, I really wanted to like the S52c, and Nikon's latest update to this series gave me plenty of reasons to do so: appreciably faster performance, a solid Wi-Fi system, a slim form factor, and more than acceptable image quality. In one...

Nikon S52c still limits transfers over Wi-Fi

Camera makers don't like to mention that they downsample these images; I always have to ask a company rep at a trade show or in a briefing, or dig through layers of technical specifications, to discover what resolution "emailed" photos are sent at. The...
