Olympus Pen E-PL7

The next Pen update gets a selfie-obsessed screen

Great sensor performance ; Charming retro design ; Decent touchscreen

Underwhelming video capture ; Not ideal for bigger hands ; Odd tilt-under screen

We did find that the flash has a tendency to overexpose people’s faces, but flash selfies explains one of the E-PL7’s design oddities. The til screen also makes shooting below head level easier – it’s not just for the selfie crowd.

Olympus Pen E-PL7 review: Stylish system camera

With fun features such as a "selfie screen", pared down controls and a user-friendly interface, the Olympus PEN E-PL7 is primarily aimed at point-and-shoot users. However, experienced photographers can find plenty of depth to keep their interest, with...

Looks great, excellent touchscreen, improved handling, Wi-Fi works a treat, selfie screen if you fancy it

Incremental improvements for the series, detail lacks at high-ISO settings, Auto ISO has limited use

Like its E-PL5 predecessor, the E-PL7 at first seems like a small series of steady improvements rolled into the one camera, with a more sophisticated autofocus system, better overall handling and Wi-Fi. But that makes it a solid bit of kit, especially...

Olympus Pen E-PL7 review

Olympus is pinning its hopes for the E-PL7 on a tilting screen and Art Filters, but its image quality promises to be good too

Respected sensor and processor combination ; Easy selfie mode ; Raw files recording possible with Art Filters

No viewfinder built-in ; No smaller than OM-D E-M10 ; Selfie mode not compatible with tripods

The E-PL7 looks like a good solid camera for those who want to travel light and don't mind not having a viewfinder. Image quality promises to be very good.

Olympus PEN E-PL7 review

Olympus' replacement for the 2-year-old PEN E-PL5 may look similar to its predecessor, but Olympus made a lot of significant changes for the E-PL7, mostly to incorporate newer technology that's since debuted in its OM-D line of interchangeable-lens...

With its flexible display, great set of controls and generally streamlined design, the Olympus PEN E-PL7 hits quite a few high notes.

It might be a little too complicated for newbies, and the grip could be bigger.

A likeable interchangeable-lens model, the Olympus PEN E-PL7's overall package makes an attractive alternative to an advanced compact and has quite a bit to offer as a first ILC.

Olympus Pen E-PL7

I saw a pre-production model of this unit back in the summer. Now finally as winter grips us all the chance to review it arrives. For me a first, a removable lens camera marketed with the ability to take selfies high on its tick list.

It is 12.5x6.5x8.5cm and weights 453grams without neck strap or flash attached. The lens it came with is a 14-42mm and the action is very smooth. The left side has only the neck strap anchor point while the right side has the matching anchor point as...

Olympus E-PL7 TIPA Review!

Resolution:

The dynamic range results are very good: The camera gained a maximum of 10,9 f-stops and keeps a high level of about 10 f-stops up to ISO 3200 mode. This helps to master effortlessly even very high contrast scenes.
