Olympus Tough 8010 review

It's not refined, but a great all-weather compact camera

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 review

The Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 is one of the most durable pocket cameras you're going to find. Its metal body and shock-absorbing system can survive drops of up to 6.6 feet and it's crushproof up to a weight of 220 pounds. On top of those things it is...

Extremely rugged for a compact; very good feature set; full, built-in user manual; 1.6GB of internal memory for photos, video.

Frustratingly slow performance; soft photos; pricey.

The Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 is rugged on the outside, but average on the inside.

Olympus µ TOUGH 8010

Darting down a ski slope with the odd tumble shouldn't stop you taking photos. Neither should mountain biking, or even surfing, for that matter. Olympus has set out to create an even Tough-er compact; a camera that enjoys being beaten up and pushed...

Olympus Mju Tough 8010 review

Daniel Bell tests the capabilities of the Olympus Mju Tough 8010, with 5x optical zoom and a 14Mp sensor.

Extremely tough; Easy to use; 2Gb internal memory; SD card format; Good performance at the telephoto length

Menu system can be slow to react

Olympus MJU Tough 8010

The robust features make this camera attractive to anyone who thinks their camera may suffer the occasional bump and bruise. I like the features this camera offers and found it easy to use. Picture quality is perfectly acceptable, if a little unexciting.

Ease of use - USB battery charging - 2GB of built in memory - built in manual - robust features

Turn on time - shutter delay

Despite the fact there are a few extra features on offer the MJU Tough is still easy to use. I like the addition of a band running down the right hand side of the screen to show current settings.

Olympus Tough 8010 rugged camera

Hardy, waterproof, compact camera, built to withstand extremes and the elements.

Summing up the Olympus 8010 is difficult. It's hard to quantify exactly how tough it is - its specifications and my experience during testing suggests it's hardier than most compact cameras - if you're headed into the wilderness and need an utterly...

Olympus Tough -8010 and Tough -6020

Up to 5x wide zoom brings you right to where the action is, and the built-in Dual Image Stabilisation helps during fast-paced chaotic shoots. These tough cookies can store even more with up to 2GB internal memory, and you can intuitively surf through...

Olympus Stylus Tough-8010

With its tap-enabled interface, the Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 is a good fit for those who want a top-of-the-line rugged build, HD video capture, and a camera that's easy to operate while using gloves.

Good image quality with low noise. Water-, freeze-, drop-, and crush-proof. Tap-enabled interface. Lens is protected by a retracting shield. 2GB of internal storage. In-camera manual and guide.

Pricey. Images are soft towards the outer areas of the frame. Noticeable shutter lag. Long delays between shots. LCD shows motion blur.
