Panasonic Lumix LX1 review

The LX1's unique image sensor's native aspect ratio is 16:9, it has a 4x zoom and an optical image stabilizer, and has excellent build quality

How much? Never mind what the LX-1 costs, just see what it does – yes, it’s pricey, but boy is it worth it

Panasonic DMC LX1

Panasonic DMC LX1 Review. One of the more advanced compact digital camera. It has manual exposure controls and also a wide angle lens.

Indoor photos ; Compact model consider features and controls ; Easy to use ; Optical image stabilizer

Small capacity memory card supplied

The Panasonic DMC LX1 is one of the few digital cameras to offer a truly wide angle lens. Picture quality is good while the range of features should suit anyone who sees photography as a hobby. The compact shape of the camera is another bonus....

Announced on the 20th of July, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 is the first 16:9 wide-aspect ratio (effectively "wide-screen") digital camera with a 16:9 wide aspect ratio 8.4 megapixel CCD sensor. The camera has a Leica 4x optical zoom lens starting at...

Very good image quality ; Very compact and stylish with a solid metal body (will fit in trouser pockets) ; Built in "Mege Optical Image Stabilisation" allows blur free low-light photos ; 2.5" screen is good with a high resolution (207,000 pixels) ;...

The Panasonic Lumix LX1 is in the unique position of being the only digital camera to offer a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio with wide angle at 8 megapixels (other Panasonic digital cameras feature a 16:9 aspect ratio but not at the full resolution)....

The 16:9 format, while a nice idea from a compositional perspective, is more attuned to TV display than 'proper' photos.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 reviewed

We were pretty stoked when we heard about the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 a couple weeks ago because of its relatively thin size and fully 16:9 wide-angle CCD, and it looks like HardwareZone's among the first we've seen with a review. Besides that 8.4...
